Stuart Collects the Multiverse

If you happened to watch the second episode of Stuart Fails to Save the Universe on HBO Max last week (as Shawn and Tony did), you might have seen this at about the 6 minute mark:

© Warner Bros Television

If you're very familiar with McFarlane Toys (as Shawn and Tony are), you'll recognize those out-of-focus yellow and blue blurs at the upper left are the 2022 McFarlane Toys DC Multiverse Booster Gold & Blue Beetle 2-pack action figures. Mint in box, Stuart probably has them priced at $100 or more.

Stuart could certainly learn a thing or two about saving multiverses from those guys.

Give the set decorators credit: those Blue and Gold figures are just two of many DC Multiverse background references which hint at the thematically similar parallel universe-setting of this television series, which could just as easily have been called Crisis of Infinite Stuarts.

Thanks to Shawn and Tony for catching this.

New Release: Superman 37

Rob Snow alerts me that Booster Gold is in today's Justice League Unlimited #18. And if you recall, two weeks ago, Tony alerted us that Booster Gold also appears in a background panel in today's Superman #37 (or "Legacy 879" if you've been collecting since 1939).

Now, I haven't yet seen the panels from JLU #18, but the Superman panel in question is included in the issue preview at BleedingCool.com, but the important part is this:

Hmm. That looks familiar. Where have I seen that before? Ah, yes, Batman/Superman: World's Finest #20, also drawn by Dan Mora.

I hope this means Mora will be sneaking Booster into the background of more comics. Keep your eyes peeled, Booster boosters!

Thanks, Rob and Tony.

All I Want for Christmas

Tony wrote in to alert me that Booster Gold has just appeared in "Texts From Superheroes." I didn't know what that was, but it is apparently a parody website (textsfromsuperheroes.com). And yeah, that's where you'll find Booster Gold this week. And maybe the only place for weeks to come.

DC released their December 2023 solicitations last week; you can read them at AIPTComics.com. If you do, you won't find any sign of Booster Gold.

This marks a whole year since there's been any advance sign of an in-story Booster Gold comic appearance. That's a long time.

To be fair, just because Booster isn't seen in solicitations doesn't mean that he won't appear in any comics. For example, he's made unexpected 2023 cameo appearances in Superman: The Space Age, DC's Legion of Bloom, and Harley Quinn, among others.

I'm no big fan of surprises — I like to know in advance where I'm going to be spending my money — but surprise Booster is better than no Booster.
