New Release: DC KO 1

DC's latest event book, DC K.O. #1, arrives at your Local Comic Shop today. According to preview pages at BleedingCool.com, Booster Gold is in it.

He is also on it. He can be seen fighting Jaime Reyes on the back of Scott Koblish's wraparound cover.

The bad news is this cover, officially "Cover L Scott Koblish DC Showcase Wraparound Foil Variant," just one of 45 that I am aware of, has a cover price of $24.99, the highest of all the non-incentive variant covers. (Technically, the incentive variants have no price on their covers, so I guess you could say they are all "priceless.")

And lest you think that you can circumvent that price point by gambling on getting the Cover N Scott Koblish Blind Bag Foil Variant in a $9.99 polybagged "Blind Bag," beware that the Blind Bag version is the Booster Gold-free front cover only. So $25 or bust if you're collecting Booster Gold covers.

Buy this issue and make Skeets happy (if only because it gets us one step closer to finding out where Skeets is).

Another New Release: Taste of Justice 13

Booster booster J points out that Booster Gold has a one panel cameo in the most recent issue of the free DC Universe Taste of Justice vertical scrolling webcomic that combines Justice League superheroics and cooking demonstrations.

Specifically, Booster is in panel (page?) 7:

Booster doesn't stick around until the end to taste the Atom's dish resulting from a combination of onions, carrots, water, bullion cubes, mulberries, and "chicken of the woods." I can't say I blame him.

You read the issue yourself (it's free!) at dcuniverseinfinite.com.

Thanks for calling this to our attention, J.

New Release: Justice League Omega Act Special

Today you can find Justice League: The Omega Act Special #1 at your Local Comic Shop. Booster Gold is on the cover. A preview, confirming Booster Gold will also be included on interior pages, was included in last week's Justice League Unlimited #11. It's written by Joshua Williamson.

And that's all I have to say about that.

New Releases: Superman 30, New History of DC 3

Pay attention, Booster boosters, as Booster Gold is in three different comics today!

Did I say "different"? According to Rob Snow, not so much. Apparently, while Booster Gold is in Justice League Unlimited #11, it's just the "last page splash panel. Same exact scene as the last page splash panel in Superman #30" that sets up next month's Justice League: The Omega Act.

You all already know my opinions on what's going on over in Superman, so that's all I have to say about those.

However, the third comic is New History of the DC Universe #3, which has been twice delayed past its original expected date August 27. Two delays are kind of fitting considering that Booster Gold and Skeets(!) are on two of its covers, one by Chris Samnee and the other by Scott Koblish. Both are really great. AIPTComics.com has a preview of the interior that confirms that Booster Gold and Skeets are inside, too.

Buy some comics and make Skeets happy! Thanks, Rob.

New Release: Superman 29

Ok, I've just read Superman #29. For the purpose of updating this site, I read it twice. And my initial gut reaction is that I hate it. I hated reading twice so much that I want to stop reading comics set in the DCU forever, or at least until they can tell a story that doesn't assume I want to read multi-part crossover, years-long, seemingly-unending torture-porn stories about heroes failing. I'm just sick of it.

I've read and even enjoyed some dark stories before, but this one has really been the last straw. Is it event fatigue? Dissatisfaction with Joshua Williamson's fanboy-pandering, tell-but-don't-show writing style or Dan Mora's inability to deliver functional sequential art? World news? American politics? Summer heat? Too many years of Booster Gold being put through the meat grinder? I really don't know. I thought I was in a good mood before I started reading.

I'm going to take some time and consider why I feel this way and if anything can be done about it.

It may be a few days before I post again; my enthusiasm for following Booster Gold comics has been completely exhausted.
