Superman reveals that he and Lois were married on October 9. The original Superman: The Wedding Album, billed as "The Event of the Century!," was released October 6, 1996, the same day the characters were married in season four episode three of Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman television show. (The episode was titled "Swear to God, This Time We're Not Kidding.")

Booster Gold and the Justice League Unlimited arrive to help Superman save Metropolis from a pair of Clark Kent and Lois Lane wedding cake toppers enlarged and animated by Mr. Mxyzptlk. Booster Gold has been seen caught up in Mr. Mxyzptlk's antics before (such as in Superman and Batman: World's Funnest and Bizarro Comics, but this is his first encounter with Mxyzptlk in DC Universe continuity. (None of the heroes were present for the original wedding, as at the time it was Clark Kent who married Lois Lane in a public ceremony.)
