Real Heroes Are Hairless
Booster booster Rob is usually the first person to email me each month when the DC solicitations are released. His email this past Friday lamented that according to the newly released May 2026 solicitations, there was a "Big fat nuthin" coming for Booster Gold.
While Rob is correct that none of the solicitations mention "Booster Gold" by name, AIPTComics.com also shows most of the covers. And guess who's on the Ryan Sook cover of Action Comics #1098?

ACTION COMICS #1098
Written by MARK WAID, Art by SKYLAR PATRIDGE and PATRICIO DELPECHE, Cover by RYAN SOOK

The Weapons Master has homed in on the most scientifically advanced tech on Earth, which happens to be hiding the on Kent Farm…Clark's rocket ship. Now the Justice League and Superboy must defend his legacy and save the town of Smallville from Xotar and his cache of malevolent munitions!
When I pointed out to Rob that he missed Booster on the cover (the third consecutive issue of Action Comics that will have a Booster Gold cover), he explained why he missed it: "No beard." Ok. I'll buy it.
As for the issue itself, It sure looks like Booster is saying good-bye on that cover, and the text doesn't give any impression that Booster will have much of anything to do with Superboy's fight with the Weapons Master (although Booster does have experience against Xotar in Justice League America #61 and #62).
At this point I should probably also mention that these solicitations also include Booster's appearances in Action Comics #992 through #1000, plus The Death of Superman 30th Anniversary Special #1, all as part of the Superman: Action Comics by Dan Jurgens Omnibus Vol. 2 coming in July. Can you believe that Action Comics #1000 came out almost a decade ago? Golly.
And since we're on the subject of Superman's history, may I add that if Mark Waid is going to start mining Superman's history for new Superboy stories, could we see a return of Zigi and Zagi from 1964's Action Comics #315/316? (Asking for a friend.)
Thanks for your support, Rob.
UPDATE 02/27: I think I owe you an apology, Rob. I overlooked Booster's appearance in this week's Superman #35. In his one panel cameo flashback appearance, Booster Gold is erroneously depicted without a beard, which is obviously why I didn't spot it earlier.

New Release: Crossover edition
Keeping with the team-up theme established with Monday's post, Booster Gold is in two comics today in which the DC Comics universe crosses over with other "universes" of content.
DC K.O. Boss Battle #1 one-shot has 8 covers, most of which feature some kind of team-up between different universes. The preview at AIPTComics.com makes clear that Booster Gold is certainly in the issue; he's being controlled by Darkseid, so that's a kind of a team-up.
And, as we already knew from recent DC house ads, Booster teams up with professional commentator Excalibur in DC x AEW #1 (also available for preview at AIPTComics.com) for the first issue of the 2-part crossover between a bunch of larger-than-life characters wearing spandex and the DC Comics universe.
That's a lot of crossing over. Surely it's no accident that this week is also seeing the re-release of 1981's Marvel Treasury Edition #28, better known as DC and Marvel Present: Superman and Spider-Man! Must be something in the water.
Anyway, DC K.O. Boss Battle #1 and DC x AEW #1 combine for 13 different covers and somehow Booster Gold is on none of them. So buyer's choice! Pick up the cover you like best of either of those issues, Booster boosters, and make Skeets (and his cross-company counterparts) happy.

New Releases: Superman 31, New History 4
If you're out to collect every Booster Gold comic book, DC is out to squeeze every possible penny out of you.
Case in point: this week's Superman #31. Excuse me. I mean the "Superman #31 Cover E Jorge Fornes Card Stock Variant (DC K.O.)." The standard cover is $4.99, but this variant's cover price is $5.99.

Booster Gold in a poncho? Is this a reference to A Fistful of Dollars or Back to the Future III? ("What idiot dressed you in that outfit?") We can at least be sure that Booster is in the book, at least as a mute background character, thanks to the preview at AIPTComics.com, but do we really think anything like this happens between the covers?
Second case in point: New History of the DC Universe #4. Excuse me. I mean the "New History of the DC Universe #4 (of 4) Cover E Ryan Sook Foil Variant." The standard cover is $5.99, but this variant's cover price is $9.99.

The preview for that issue does not show Booster Gold, so buyer beware.
To be clear: Although, yes, I will buy comics just because Booster Gold is in them and Booster Gold is on them, I do not make a habit of buying variants, especially ones with higher cover prices, and I cannot endorse such behavior in others. ("A man's got to know his limitations.") But if you've got enough money to cover your other needs and spending that money will not harm you, I trust you to judge for yourself whether to buy some commercially produced Booster Gold artwork. ("Go ahead, make your day.")

New Release: DC KO 1
DC's latest event book, DC K.O. #1, arrives at your Local Comic Shop today. According to preview pages at BleedingCool.com, Booster Gold is in it.
He is also on it. He can be seen fighting Jaime Reyes on the back of Scott Koblish's wraparound cover.

The bad news is this cover, officially "Cover L Scott Koblish DC Showcase Wraparound Foil Variant," just one of 45 that I am aware of, has a cover price of $24.99, the highest of all the non-incentive variant covers. (Technically, the incentive variants have no price on their covers, so I guess you could say they are all "priceless.")
And lest you think that you can circumvent that price point by gambling on getting the Cover N Scott Koblish Blind Bag Foil Variant in a $9.99 polybagged "Blind Bag," beware that the Blind Bag version is the Booster Gold-free front cover only. So $25 or bust if you're collecting Booster Gold covers.
Buy this issue and make Skeets happy (if only because it gets us one step closer to finding out where Skeets is).

New Releases: Superman 30, New History of DC 3
Pay attention, Booster boosters, as Booster Gold is in three different comics today!
Did I say "different"? According to Rob Snow, not so much. Apparently, while Booster Gold is in Justice League Unlimited #11, it's just the "last page splash panel. Same exact scene as the last page splash panel in Superman #30" that sets up next month's Justice League: The Omega Act.
You all already know my opinions on what's going on over in Superman, so that's all I have to say about those.
However, the third comic is New History of the DC Universe #3, which has been twice delayed past its original expected date August 27. Two delays are kind of fitting considering that Booster Gold and Skeets(!) are on two of its covers, one by Chris Samnee and the other by Scott Koblish. Both are really great. AIPTComics.com has a preview of the interior that confirms that Booster Gold and Skeets are inside, too.
Buy some comics and make Skeets happy! Thanks, Rob.
