I don't normally run "New Release" postings until a book is available for purchase, but I'm making an exception for tomorrow's Blue and Gold #3 because it has taken so long to get to this point.

You may recall that the issue was originally solicited for a September 27 release, but there have been... unforeseen complications. After Blue and Gold #2 failed to make its planned ship date in August, DC announced that COVID-19 inspired supply chain delays (mostly in paper stock) have resulted in a nearly line-wide cascading production disruption. For example, Blue and Gold #4, originally planned for October 19, will be postponed until at least November 9. Yikes.

So the fact that we're getting a Blue and Gold #3 at all is an event worth celebrating. But there's one other curveball, as revealed in the preview pages now available at BleedingCool.com:

The originally solicited artist, Ryan Sook, still has cover duties, but as the credits above indicate, interior art for the issue are provided by Cully Hamner instead. Hamner has done a lot of work for DC over the past three decades, but this will be his first Booster Gold comic. I am looking forward to seeing it. I hope you are too.

So don't forget to drop by your LCS this week to pick up Blue and Gold #3 and make Skeets happy.

I would like to thank all the Booster boosters who pointed me to Monday's Nerdist.com interview with the writer of the upcoming Blue and Gold mini-series by some guy named Dan Jurgens.

It is a pretty interesting read, and not just because it has an exclusive 5-page preview of the first issue. For example,

[I]n the wake of Dark Nights: Death Metal, the heroes of the DC Universe remember all previous continuities. So will remembering all this trauma play into Blue and Gold?

Turns out, not so much. According to Jurgens, "Booster is aware of it, of course, while Ted doesn't want to address it. He knows of it but also buries it."

Jurgens elaborated further, saying, "From a creative standpoint, I don't want to dwell on it. We did it in the 2007 Booster Gold series and I'm hesitant to dive into something that is now 15 plus years old. I think we're far better off simply driving right into current stories. That's what seems most fair to readers, as anything else ends up with multiple pages of explanation."

It's been 15 years since volume 2? Thanks for making me feel old, Dan.

All kidding aside, one of Jurgens' greatest strengths as a writer has always been an ability to blend the old and new so that new readers don't feel excluded while still winking at longtime fans. While that can occasionally be frustrating — no, seriously, *who* is the Black Beetle? — we have to recognize that's how comics worked throughout their heyday, and if a publisher isn't attracting new readers, they might as well go ahead and close up shop.

On a personal note, I should mention that Jurgens' "big tent" approach to comic book universe continuity has also made building this site so much fun. It's easy to imagine that all of Booster Gold's adventures have happened to a single character in a dynamic universe when the artist shepherding that character's growth has been so careful not to infringe upon the creations of the many other artists contributing to the ever-expanding multiversal tapestry. Jurgens knows that the first principle of good collaborative storytelling is learning to say "Yes, and...."

I strongly recommend that if you haven't already, you drop by Nerdist.com to read Eric Diaz's article. As I said above, it's got pictures. You *definitely* want to see the pictures of Ryan Sook's art.

And I suppose it probably goes without saying that you also *definitely* want to buy Blue and Gold when it comes out in three weeks.

Also available today is Future State: Suicide Squad #2, which continues the adventures of Gold Beetle. Her connection to Booster is made clearer in this issue, with a brief cameo by none other than our beloved Chronal Crusader plus a significant role for Skeets in the era of DC One Million!

The big event is finally here! There's so much Booster Gold in this week's Generations: Shattered #1, he's on both covers!

You could read the preview at GamesRadar, but you don't really need that, do you?

And while you're shopping at your Local Comics Shop, you might want to consider picking up Dark Nights: Death Metal #7, not just because it's the last issue of the mini-series — at least until DC debuts the inevitable Dark Nights: Doom Metal: Now With Extra Colons next fall — but mainly because it has a panel of Booster Gold dancing!

Break it down, buster.

The Greatest Hero The World Has Never Heard Of makes his triumphant return to the world of Dark Nights: Death Metal with this week's issue 6.

If you've got a really high definition monitor and a magnifying glass, you might have spotted our hero in the background of a panel in the issue preview available online at CBR.com, but Booster gets to play a bigger part later in the issue: He delivers a whole line of dialog!

But that's not the only place you'll see Booster this week. He also gets a cameo on the first page of Tales from the Dark Multiverse: Crisis on Infinite Earths (which should really be called Tales from the Dark Multiverse: Last Days of the Justice Society, but I digress). You can see Booster in CBR.com's preview of *that* issue.

(Oops. That panel might be something of a spoiler for last year's Tales from the Dark Multiverse: Infinite Crisis, if you haven't read that — and I don't blame you if you haven't. These What If? Dark Multiverse one-shots are starting to stack up. How many unhappy endings does one company need?)

And lest you think that you'd have to pick up one of these two issues to get a Booster Gold cameo appearance this week, think again. Booster is appearing in all the DC books this week in the house ad for Generations: Shattered #1. Here's the important bit:
