Might As Well Post This Now

Several people have just brought this to my attention, and I don't see much reason to wait until Monday:

I'll be keeping my eye out for that pre-order opportunity.

UPDATE 2022-07-27: Pre-order links are now available on McFarlane.com. I'll post more about this on Friday.

My Favorite Pages: Booster Gold 3

My Favorite Pages

Years ago, in my original review for Booster Gold volume 1, number 3, I wrote "While the ride may not be as smooth as previous issues, it is worth the cost of admission just for the sight of Booster Gold on a date in a purple tuxedo over his regular costume."

I stand by that statement.

This page is so good for so many reasons. Who hasn't been on a terrible date? Booster Gold gets to be both a selfish cad and a clever hero. Monica Lake is a gold digger. The whole thing is the sort of train wreck you don't want to look away from.

And that tuxedo and bow tie still hasn't come back into fashion.

Beggars and Choosers

In response to one of my tweets earlier this week, @Space_Lt_Josh commented that there is a "real Boosterenaissance beginning to unfold right now". I couldn't agree more (except for the fact that I would spell "Boosterrenaissance" the Boosterrific-endorsed way: with two "r"s!).

Our hero has come off his own Blue and Gold mini-series to play a role in Dark Crisis, DC Vs. Vampires, and Human Target. While I have grave reservations about how he is being portrayed in some of those series, I certainly think it is for the best that the character is in position to be seen by larger audiences.

Booster booster Joe Carlo informs me that at least someone at DC Comics' parent company, DC Entertainment (a subsidiary of Warner Bros. Discovery!) is also aware of Booster's rising visibility. He knows because he got a promotional email putting Booster in the "character spotlight."

The email directs readers to the DCComics.com character page for Booster Gold (www.dccomics.com/characters/booster-gold).

It gives Booster a glowing write-up, though I have to wonder why the article's accompanying headshot is this:

Aw, come on, guys. Couldn't you find a picture where Booster hasn't spent a year trapped in an alternate timeline hell of his own making? Oh, well. I guess you can't have everything.

Viva la Boosterrevolution!

New Release: DC Vs. Vampires: All-Out War 1

If you've bought a physical copy of a DC Comic published in the last two weeks, you've probably seen this:

If you've been looking forward to it, tomorrow is the day. BleedingCool.com has the preview.

It should also be noted that DC's latest reprint of 52, the "Omnibus Hardcover 2022 Edition," is also due out this week for a paltry $175. I was going to make fun of that price, but on second thought, maybe I should bite the bullet and buy this. My original comics are getting awfully worn out from repeated readings.

Buy a Booster Gold comic and make Skeets happy.

My Favorite Pages: Booster Gold 2

My Favorite Pages

After Booster Gold was portrayed so heroically in his first issue, Booster Gold volume 1, number 2 really delivers the gut punch that maybe he's not really all that he's pretending to be. He starts face down in the gutter, his friends chew him out for his failures, it becomes clear his family is lost to him forever, and the issue ends with the death of his sidekick. What a downer!

Yet, in the midst of all that, we get one of the best Booster Gold pages in the character's history:
