New Release: Blue and Gold 3
I don't normally run "New Release" postings until a book is available for purchase, but I'm making an exception for tomorrow's Blue and Gold #3 because it has taken so long to get to this point.
You may recall that the issue was originally solicited for a September 27 release, but there have been... unforeseen complications. After Blue and Gold #2 failed to make its planned ship date in August, DC announced that COVID-19 inspired supply chain delays (mostly in paper stock) have resulted in a nearly line-wide cascading production disruption. For example, Blue and Gold #4, originally planned for October 19, will be postponed until at least November 9. Yikes.
So the fact that we're getting a Blue and Gold #3 at all is an event worth celebrating. But there's one other curveball, as revealed in the preview pages now available at BleedingCool.com:

The originally solicited artist, Ryan Sook, still has cover duties, but as the credits above indicate, interior art for the issue are provided by Cully Hamner instead. Hamner has done a lot of work for DC over the past three decades, but this will be his first Booster Gold comic. I am looking forward to seeing it. I hope you are too.
So don't forget to drop by your LCS this week to pick up Blue and Gold #3 and make Skeets happy.

New Release: Wonder Woman 80th Anniversary
Leave it to Booster Gold to crash Wonder Woman's 80th anniversary party!
From this week's Wonder Woman 80-Anniversary 100-Page Super Spectacular:

Now that is a great cameo in a tribute book! Especially considering that Booster and Wondy have traditionally had something of a frosty relationship because, well, she's a wonder and he's a bit of a cad.
For example, here is their meeting in 1992's Justice League America Annual #6:

Thanks to Logan Peterson for calling Wonder Woman 80-Anniversary 100-Page Super Spectacular to our attention. (You're a great salesman, Logan. My Local Comic Shop owes you a commission!)

This Day in History: Power Outage
Once upon a time, Guy Gardner was an insufferable jerk who was so insufferable that he was actually kicked out of the Green Lantern Corps. Guy being Guy, that didn't stop him for long. In fact, he took on the entire Corps just to get his hand on Sinestro's yellow power ring, which, being Sinestro's ring, had a few quirks of its own, as Guy discovered in Guy Gardner #2, released on this date 29 years ago today.
But that's not what's important about that issue. What's important about that issue was Booster Gold's 1990s hair!
I'd sell my soul to Neron for hair like that.

Candy for the Eyes
I really could use a good start to my week this week, so let's look at some professionally-made Booster Gold fan art to get us in the right mood!
First is a piece that Kevin Maguire created and sold for $500 on gumroad.com:
And second is this one posted by Mike McKone to Twitter.com:
Oh, yeah. I'm feeling it now. Maybe this week will be better than just good. Thanks, Booster!

A Grab Bag of News
Two pieces of news today that are probably each worthy of their own post. But since they both came from the ghost of Newsarama at GamesRadar.com, I'm combining them into this one post.
Thing 1: "Booster Gold: Inside the social media superhero who was 35 years ahead of his time" by Vaneta Rogers is a retrospective of what Booster Gold has meant to the writers who have crafted his adventures.
Rogers' oral history includes interviews with Dan Jurgens, Keith Giffen, J.M. Dematteis, and Jeff Katz, all ow whom clearly have a great deal of respect for the character they helped craft.
In fact, Giffen said that, when he and co-writer J.M. DeMatteis were told by editor Andy Helfer they had to use Booster Gold in their new Justice League run in 1987, it was this 'things-never-go-right' element that defined Booster.
"I'll be honest: I had no idea what to do with the character when we first had him," Giffen said. "Booster really didn't gel in my mind until he had the first 'bwa-ha-ha' moment and Beetle was laughing at him. I knew then that this character is going to know life's frustrations and is going to get knocked down a lot, but is always going to get back up again."
That's just a taste of the insight the piece provides into what has made Booster Gold so durable for the past three-plus decades. Good work, Vaneta.
Thing 2: "New DC Human Target is a 12-issue 'whodunit'" by Micheal Doran is essentially a sales piece to encourage fans to buy the upcoming Human Target series featuring the Justice League International.
The report lays out the basic premise of the series and quotes writer Tom King telling us how this is going to be just like every other prestige mini-series he's written for DC in the past half decade. But the important part for Booster boosters is the news about the variant covers.
The [Trevor] Hairsine and [Danny] Miki #1 and #2 variants connect to form the cover of a 'Whodunit' board game. The back cover features a pin-up calendar, "leaning into the mid-century feel of the comic," says DC.
When placed side by side, those variant covers will look like this:

Mid-century? No. Boosterrific? Very.
