Maybe New Release: Superman 28
Back in May, in response to a post on Joshua Williamson's substack, I wrote
You'll note that this doesn't actually say that Booster Gold will be in Superman #28, but it almost does. So I think Booster boosters should be prepared to pick up Superman #28 when it comes out on July 23.
Now that it's July 23 Eve, BleedingCool.com has spoilers for Superman #28, the first issue of the "Legion of Darkseid" story that's been teased for months. The spoilers reveal a surprise character appearance... who is not Booster Gold. Shoot. There is still no actual confirmation that Booster Gold is in the issue. I guess we'll find out tomorrow. [UPDATE: As you can see in the comments below, Rob Snow has found out, and the answer is "he is not." Big thanks to Rob for saving me $5.]
But!
"Here" being the DC Go! comic Taste of Justice #3 ("A Taste of Hope" co-written by and guest starring World Central Kitchen founder José Andrés).
Thanks to Booster booster J, I can report that the first three issues of the digital-only food-themed series from Andrew Aydin and Domo Stanton first announced back in January were finally released on July 16 and are now available and free to read at DCUniverseInfinite.com.
And yes, that is the costume Booster wore while romancing Harley Quinn in "California or Death" (beginning in Harley Quinn Volume 3 #70). I gotta be honest; I don't hate it. I'm a sucker for the high collar.

Who Gets the Black Costume This Time?
Insiders have been teasing future plans in the lead-up to next week's Comic-Con International 2025, and it looks like after the Summer of Superman concludes, readers will next be treated to the Fall of DC.
Marvel Comics' new 12-issue maxi-series The Secret War will be "one of the most significant events in Marvel history ever" promises Marvel Editor-in-Chief Jim Shooter. Shooter will write the book, in which a number of permanent and temporary changes will be made in many of the major Marvel super-heroes and super-villains.
Oh, wait. Sorry. That was the announcement of was eventually published under the title Marvel Super-Heroes Secret Wars as it originally appeared in The Comics Journal #85 in 1983.
What I meant to post was the story that The Hollywood Reporter broke this past Wednesday.
Scott Snyder, the writer behind best-selling sensation Absolute Batman, and Joshua Williamson, who writes Superman, are the co-architects of what is being called DC K.O., the story initiative that will debut this fall and run through a main book as well as ripple out through various titles across the DC Universe. Javi Fernández (Batman & Robin, King Spawn) will draw the main series that is being described as a slugfest to end all slugfests. “DC K.O. is a knock-down, drag-out fight between all your favorite DC super heroes in a cosmic tournament to save the universe from Darkseid,” said Snyder in a statement.
Just heroes fighting heroes, then? It's not Marvel's 1984 Secret Wars; it's DC's 2007 Countdown: Arena (or 2015 Convergence). At least no one has actually read those.
Over at BleedingCool.com's article on this announcement is this description of the upcoming event:
While the battles are epic, the emotional center lies with Superman. "Metal was a Batman story, Death Metal was a Wonder Woman story—and DC K.O. is a Superman story," said Williamson. "I wanted to tell a story about Superman looking into his own heart of darkness," said Snyder. "It's a very personal story wrapped in nine layers of candy exploding in your face."
Call me a grumpy old man, but I really do not ever want any layers of exploding face candy.
As this is a Booster Gold fan site and not a general comics blog, I wouldn't be snarking at this groundbreaking news at all if not for the graphic that accompanied the article. See if you can see what I saw. Hint: he's inside the golden circle (fighting Blue Beetle).
AIPTComics.com has identified that art as a crop of the Scott Koblish wraparound variant cover for DC K.O. #1. (Koblish has been doing a lot of those sorts of crowd scene covers lately. They must sell well. I admit I'm buying them; I'll buy any comic with Captain Carrot or Red Bee on it. What can I say? I'm a nature lover.)
Despite not actually being mentioned in the text of any of these articles (by accident or design?), Booster Gold also appears on a couple of other covers in the AIPT Comics article. The first is an alternate cover for Superman #31, which presumably concludes the storyline beginning in next week's Superman #28 as was teased back in May.
The second is the main cover for the one-shot special Justice League: The Omega Act #1. (Booster and Skeets also appear on a variant.) The cover by Pete Woods homages the classic cover of Crisis on Infinite Earths #7, you know, the one where Superman cradles a dead Supergirl, this time with Booster Gold in place of Supergirl. Uh oh. If I may quote SLW:
I mean, you can't be a fan of Booster's without acknowledging the fact that he's kind of the DCU's punching bag, but come on.
So be sure to tell your Local Comic Shop to hold at least one of each of these for you when DC K.O. and its many tie-ins begin arriving in stores this October. They may be your last chance to see Booster Gold alive.
(Thanks, Tiffany. Despite my cynicism and crushing event fatigue—maybe I really have been reading comics for too long—it really will all be worth it if Booster gets a match against "Apokolips Now" variant Superman. That guy sent Booster to an alternate universe and forgot about him! Grr.)

This Day in History: Baby Booster Gold
On this day, 284 years in the future (as reported 11 years ago in Scribblenauts Unmasked: A Crisis of Imagination #7), Booster Gold becomes a baby again!
All that water in New York sure seemed far fetched back in 2014. Comic books really can predict the future!

But Wait There's More
Two years ago, for no obvious reason, DC made available to a limited number of attendees of the 2023 San Diego Comic-Con International a foil copy of Booster Gold #1. (Ohhh. So shiny.)
This year marks the 40th anniversary of the publication of that issue, so surely DC is planning something bigger for year's convention, right? I mean, that's why they erased our hero from continuity last year, right? So that he could have a big Homecoming party in 2025 for twice the celebration, right? Right?
According to DC's press release last Friday, their slate of events at this year's SDCC will predictably be mostly focused on the Absolute Universe and Superman (who apparently is in some sort of movie, have you heard?). Booster's creator, Dan Jurgens, will be on the Super-centric "DC Comics: Metropolis and Beyond" panel. Jurgens has a long history of helping Booster Gold steal a little of Superman's spotlight. Here's hoping he does it again.
While the press release doesn't mention Booster by name, DC hasn't entirely forgotten about the Corporate Crusader. Also per the press release:
At the DC Booth, Warner Bros. Discovery’s DC Shop will offer a range of exclusive must-have items for DC Super Hero fans and Super-Villain enthusiasts while supplies last. This includes a special “Legends Forever” hoodie designed to honor the DC Trinity of Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman. There will also be a t-shirt, pin, and hat with the new Batman comic book logo (debuting on Batman #1 in September), a 24k Gold-plated over 925 sterling silver S-Shield gold necklace, Krypto the Super-Dog hoodie, and assorted pet goods based on Superman, a Supergirl t-shirt, and more.
I hear you thinking "Hmm. That doesn't say anything about Booster Gold." Well, you're correct. But it does say "and more," and that must mean this:
That looks like a Booster Gold (and Skeets!) "Omega" pin based on Daniel Sampere's art from page 21 of DC All In Special #1. It appeared in an image accompanying the press release that showcased many of the items listed in the above paragraph. I'm sure that failing to mention the pictured Booster Gold merchandise in the text was simply a clerical error. Surely, no one would ever exclude Booster Gold on purpose.
Is that what it looks like? How exclusive will it be? How many arms and/or legs will it cost us? Here's hoping more details will become available when we get closer to Comic-Con International next week.
UPDATE 7/25: Steve dropped by the comments below to tell us DC gave these away to panel attendees. Sounds like a pretty limited edition! Congratulations, Steve!
UPDATE 7/26: If you're reading the comments, you'll note that Hawkman Carter Hall tells us the pins are being sold to attendees for $15 at the official DC Booth. So maybe not *quite* so limited. Thanks, Carter!

My Favorite Pages: Justice League America 65
Considering that Maxima is the planetary-invading bad girl in this week's Superman Treasury 2025: Hope for All #1, I find it interesting to look back to June 1992 when it was her planet being conquered by outside enemy forces in Justice League America #65 (also written by Dan Jurgens).
Who saved the day then? Hint: it wasn't Superman....
Fzzzam. Speowww.
Ah, Booster Gold and Blue Beetle! Is there anything they can't do?
