Mining for Gold

I've showcased custom Booster Gold Minecraft skins before. (Several times, actually.) But after recently watching the A Minecraft Movie, I got to wondering if anyone out there was still making them.

I'm happy to report that the answer is yes.

These are just the "Booster Gold" skins I found from one of my old bookmarks to The Skindex at minecraftskins.com:

Booster Gold Minecraft Skins from minecraftskins.com

Cross-tagged Blue Beetle? I'll allow it.

Those are all certainly Boosterrific, but what really impressed me was found on a rival site, planetminecraft.com:

Papercraft Skeets from planetminecraft.com

Who needs a computer when they can have their own square Skeets?

The Blot's One of a Kind Sketchbook

Got a note from The Blot last week with a little something special attached.

Got an exciting new sketch in my Booster Gold sketchbook I wanted to share with you and all the Booster Boosters. Got to meet Image Comics founder Marc Silvestri at Houston's Comicpalooza last weekend. He was doing a limited amount of remarques, but said he'd do one in my sketchbook! So I jumped at the chance to get a little Booster by a comic book legend. Marc said he'd never drawn Booster before but he did a pretty good job! It’s cool to see him in Silvestri's unique line work.

Booster Gold by Marc Silvestri for The Blot

The only Booster Gold drawing by Marc Silvestri in the entire world?! That's pretty Boosterrific, Blot.

Image Comics was founded in 1992 by Erik Larsen, Jim Lee, Rob Liefeld, Todd McFarlane, Whilce Portacio, Marc Silvesti, and Jim Valentino. Blot now has Booster Gold sketches by two of them (the other is Liefeld). Five to go!

Cheesed Off

Spotted on Reddit: this custom Booster Gold action figure with flat top!

Custom Booster Gold figure by PsychologicalRub5079 via Reddit

I love the hair style. It's got a comic book precedent, too; Booster did indeed have a flat top-adjacent crew cut in the original Booster Gold #13 (perhaps not so coincidentally while the original Top Gun was in theaters).

ROYGGGBBIV

Oh, shoot. I almost forgot to post something today. See, I was writing a script to help me identify where the current drought of new Booster Gold adventures sits historically* — I had an old script that did this years ago, but DC continuity has only gotten more convoluted since then and so has how the Boosterrific Database tracks it — and I lost track of time.

The good news is that Rob Snow has me covered. Or at least he tried to.

Earlier this week, to counter the lack of official Booster Gold art coming from DC, Rob forwarded me a picture of the JLI drawn as tweenagers that has been making the rounds on a particular website. But try as I might, I cannot identify the artist, and that anti-social media site won't even let me see the posts unless I log in. And since I'm not going to do that, I'm not going to share the art here at this time. (If you ever identify that artist, let me know, Rob.)

The good news is that while I was trying to identify the artist for that, I found this, a totally awesome color wheel by Melonnabar at Between Two Worlds on Tumblr.com (which still seems quite happy to share):

Pretty awesome, right? Yeah, I'd say that all worked out.

*For the record, "175 days" is 11th on the all-time list and only two weeks from breaking into the top ten. But let's not focus on the negative today, okay? Color Wheel!
