Booster Gold in February DC Solicitations

DC's solicitations for February/March came out earlier this week and to no one's great surprise, there isn't a hint of any new Booster Gold titles. There are, however, several trades collecting previous Booster Gold appearances.

JUSTICE LEAGUE 3001 VOL. 1: DÉJÀ VU ALL OVER AGAIN TP Written by KEITH GIFFEN and J.M. DeMATTEIS
Art and cover by HOWARD PORTER
On sale MARCH 16 • 192 pg, FC, $16.99 US
Reprints Booster's appearance in Justice League 3000 #14 and Justice League 3001 #3.

WORLD'S FUNNEST TP

Art by KEVIN O'NEILL, RAFAEL ALBUQUERQUE, FRANK MILLER, DAVID MAZZUCCHELLI and others
Cover by BRIAN BOLLAND
On sale MARCH 30 • 296 pg, FC, $16.99 US
Among other Bat-Mite and Mr. Mxyzptlik stories, this reprints Booster's brief appearance in the World's Funnest one-shot.

SUPERMAN AND THE JUSTICE LEAGUE OF AMERICA VOL. 1 TP
Written by DAN JURGENS and others
Art by DAN JURGENS, RICK BURCHETT and others
Cover by DAN JURGENS and RICK BURCHETT

This one is chock full o' Gold (and Blue!) as it reprints Dan Jurgens' 1990s run on Justice League America.

Better start saving your pennies, Booster boosters!

Booster Gold Volume 1 Comes to Comixology

Russ Burlingame informs us via ComicBook.com that the first two issues of Booster Gold Volume 1 are now available on Comixology.com. In Full Color!

When they were first released back in 1986, these issues had a cover price of 75¢. Adjusting for inflation, that's $1.63 in 2015 money. So why is Comixology charging $1.99 each when all the hard work was done and paid for 30 years ago? Hopefully the answer is because they want to back up a truckload of royalty payments to creator Dan Jurgens' mailbox.

Of course, $1.99 looks like a great price compared to some speculators, who are asking $50 or more for original printings of that first issue. Most comics readers probably don't want to have to choose between reading more about Booster Gold or eating lunch for a week.

So whether you're a Grumpy Old Man like me or a hip millennial who prefers her comics on the go, a $1.99 comic book is a steal in the year 2015. So head over to Comixology.com and get yourself a digital copy of the classic debut of history's greatest hero. Booster Gold would want you to.

(Thanks to the ever alert Morgenstern for calling this to my attention.)

New Old Release: Stormwatch v2

Believe it or not, today marks the second week in a row that DC will publish a book with a Booster Gold appearance!

Booster Gold was seen alongside members of the Justice League International in Stormwatch #12. That issue, along with the five in the series before it and Red Lanterns #10, will be collected in Stormwatch Volume 2: Enemies of Earth.

While one panel may not be enough incentive for you to pick up this trade, keep in mind that it is the only appearance of Skeets in the DCnU to date. Surely that sweetens the deal a little, yes?

New Old Release: Superman The Man of Steel v7

Good news, Booster boosters! Booster Gold makes a cameo appearance in a new release today.

If you run out to your Local Comic Shop and pick up Superman: The Man of Steel Volume 7, you'll find our hero in some reprinted vintage action!

What, you didn't spot him? Here, let me help.

Hey, Look! It's Booster Gold!

That's our Booster, hiding right there behind Firestorm and Jade. This panel originally appeared in Action Comics #596. How many of you bought that when it was on the newsstands in 1987?

Ok, so it's not much Booster, but you have to admit that DC did publish a book with Booster Gold in it today.

Old Releases: JLA: Omega

Amid the new DC rollout continuing with 12 all-new titles today, DC will also release some old Justice League of America comics in the form of the Justice League of America: Omega collection. This trade will include a reprint of Starman/Congorilla, which includes a brief Booster Gold cameo appearance. Beware: despite being named "Omega," this trade doesn't actually collect the end of the pre-rebooted Justice League of America series. That, presumably, will happen later (and will also include a Booster Gold cameo appearance). Whether or not buying this will make Skeets happy is unknown at this time.
