Catching Up on Coming Attractions
I've been so wrapped up in video games lately that I've been remiss in updating you on upcoming Booster Gold appearances. So grab a pen and paper (or however you keep track of what you'll be buying from your Local Comic Shop in the weeks ahead) and make note of these fine DC Comics publications:
SUPERMAN #17
written by BRIAN MICHAEL BENDIS
art by KEVIN MAGUIRE and SEAN PARSONS
Superman's new Fortress of Solitude sits in the most remote corner of the Bermuda Triangle. Constructed using Kryptonian technology far beyond anything our world knows, filled with intergalactic, pan-dimensional secrets from all over the Multiverse...how could it possibly be missing?
ON SALE November 13, 2019
I know that one doesn't sound like Booster Gold will be in it, but Brian Michael Bendis has already shared a page of Kevin Maguire's art from the issue that very clearly shows Booster Gold in at least a cameo appearance.
TALES FROM THE DARK MULTIVERSE: INFINITE CRISIS #1
written by JAMES TYNION IV
art by AARON LOPRESTI and MATT RYAN
DC's mega-event "Infinite Crisis" saw the destruction of the Trinity, the rise of Alexander Luthor and Superboy-Prime, and the rebirth of the Multiverse...but it all started with Ted Kord, the Blue Beetle, who saw it all coming and died with secrets that could've saved the world. But...things happened differently in the Dark Multiverse! Not only does Blue Beetle survive— he thrives! And after killing Maxwell Lord himself, Ted sets off a chain of events that irreversibly alters the lives of the Justice League and his best friend, Booster Gold. In trying to prevent a crisis, Blue Beetle becomes the Crisis...and the Dark Multiverse will never be the same.
ON SALE November 27, 2019
I think it's awfully nice of DC to let James Tynion rewrite Booster Gold Volume 2 #6. (Golly. That issue came out 11 years ago. There is probably a whole generation of readers who haven't read it. Go read the classics, kids!)
SUPERMAN: HEROES #1
written by BRIAN MICHAEL BENDIS, MATT FRACTION, JODY HOUSER, and GREG RUCKA
art by KEVIN MAGUIRE, STEVE LIEBER, MIKE PERKINS and others
cover by BRYAN HITCH
Lois Lane, Jimmy Olsen, the staff of the Daily Planet, even the Justice League—their lives all changed when Superman revealed his secret identity to the world! This unique Superman experience explores what the identity of Clark Kent meant to those close to him—and what their relationship to Superman will be in the future. All the rules are about to change—and it all starts here.
ON SALE January 29, 2020
Again, that text doesn't sound like Booster plays much of a role, but he is included (barely) in the solicited cover art. That's not nothing.
In addition to those new appearances (and Harley Quinn #67 — more on that on Wednesday), don't forget that Booster will also be appearing in several previously announced reprint collections.
- Booster Gold: The Big Fall (collecting the first story of Booster Gold series one), November 27
- Justice League International: Born Again (collecting early issues of the JLI), January 15
- Justice League: Corporate Maneuvers (collecting Justice League Quarterly #1 through #4), February 2
That's a lot of Booster. Everything is coming up Gold!

Born Again Again
Newsarama.com has DC Comics' December solicitations, and I'm sorry to report that Booster Gold continues to be the one character from Heroes in Crisis who hasn't gotten his own title. What's up with that, DC?
It's not all bad news, however. DC has confirmed a new reprint of the early Justice League International issues.
JUSTICE LEAGUE INTERNATIONAL BOOK ONE: BORN AGAIN TP
written by KEITH GIFFEN, J.M. DeMATTEIS, and JOHN OSTRANDER
art by KEVIN MaGUIRE, KEITH GIFFEN, LUKE McDONNELL and others
cover by KEVIN MAGUIRE and TERRY AUSTIN
In these 1980s tales, find out what happens when Batman, Superman, and the Justice League face a galactic invasion fleet known as the Cluster, exchange harsh words with Lobo, track Mister Miracle back to Apokolips, and then battle yet another invasion fleet! Collects Justice League #1-6, Justice League International #7-17, Justice League Annual #1, Justice League International Annual #2, and Suicide Squad #13.
ON SALE January 15, $39.99 US, 552 PAGES
Those are a lot of great comics. If you haven't read these issues — and even if you have — you should consider picking up this collection using modern printing techniques. Despite what Dan DiDio says, those early Justice League International stories are great comics.
Speaking of Heroes in Crisis spin-offs, Booster booster Logan alerts us to an appearance in today's releases.
I was afforded a sneak-peak of Flash Forward #1 at my store, and I can report that Booster makes an appearance in the issue. It's a brief one, but it's Booster! :)
Always good to know Booster's coming. Thanks, Logan.

The Big Falling Ship Date
Newsarama.com reports that the previously solicited Booster Gold: The Big Fall hardcover reprinting the first twelve issues of Booster Gold will be delayed.
It was originally scheduled to ship at the end of this month, but apparently it won't show up in your Local Comic Shop until the day before Thanksgiving, November 27. We'll go ahead and give thanks that the only thing that appears to have changed is the shipping date. The content is still advertised as 320 pages for $39.99, including "design material, unpublished story pages and more."
If you haven't already told your LCS to order a copy for you, what are you waiting for? There's no time like the present!

This Time in Color
Rob Snow dropped a note in Monday's comments to say "Looks like DC is republishing the 80s Booster and Beetle runs in color." DC hasn't made any announcement yet, but Amazon.com certainly agrees with him.
Per https://www.amazon.com/Booster-Gold-Fall-Dan-Jurgens/dp/1779500750/:
Booster Gold: The Big Fall Hardcover — October 1, 2019
by Dan Jurgens (Author)
The 1980s stories that introduced the time-travelling adventurer known as Booster Gold are collected in color for the first time.
Introduced in 1986, the glory-hungry but bumbling hero known as Booster Gold is in reality from the 25th century. Traveling back in time, Booster planned to use futuristic technology to become a super hero called Goldstar -- but he managed to mangle both his mission and his name, winding up with the oddball name by which he is known. In these stories, while battling rad 1980s super-villains, Booster attempts to line up endorsement deals with limited success. Collects BOOSTER GOLD #1-12, plus design material, unpublished story pages and more.Product details
Series: Booster Gold
Hardcover: 320 pages
Publisher: DC Comics (October 1, 2019)
Language: English
ISBN-10: 1779500750
ISBN-13: 978-1779500755
Product Dimensions: 6.6 x 10.2 inches
Shipping Weight: 13 ounces
"Unpublished story pages?" What's the chance this is why Dan Jurgens was teasing us with those unused pages from issue 6 earlier this month? (Please, please, please.)
I also have to wonder whether this will see print as "The Big Fall," or if that's a placeholder title. "The Big Fall" is the name of the story in the first issue of the series, not the whole twelve issues. You kids today might find this hard to believe, but back in the day, comics weren't written with an inevitable 6-issue collection in mind, so there weren't many "The Big Fall: Part 5"s out there. Granted, Issue 12 does end with (Warning! 33-year-old spoilers!) Booster sick and powerless and Skeets (gasp!) corrupted and deactivated. So maybe "The Big Fall" is as good a title as anything.
(Issue 12 is kind of a downer stopping point, isn't it? They couldn't have just kept going to issue 15? That's the one that brings Booster's origin full circle. Oh, well. I guess they have to have a reason to publish a second volume. I doubt many new readers would tune in for Millennium tie-ins.)
Even though I already own multiple copies of each issue of Volume 1, I'll probably pick this up, too, for the unpublished material. You can never have too much Booster Gold!
Thanks for calling our attention to that, Rob. (And for those of you interested, here's the link to that Blue Beetle reprint.)

Summer Vacation
After a good run, it looks like Booster will be taking June off. He is almost nowhere to be found in DC's June solicitations.
I say "almost" because:
SUPERMAN BLUE VOL. 1 TP
Written by DAN JURGENS, KARL KESEL, DAVID MICHELINIE and LOUISE SIMONSON
Art by RON FRENZ, SCOT EATON, STUART IMMONEN, JON BOGDANOVE, TOM GRUMMETT, SEAN CHEN and others
Cover by DAN JURGENS and JOE RUBINSTEIN
When the sun temporarily goes out, Superman temporarily loses his powers...but when they return, they are not what the Man of Steel expects! Clark Kent is suddenly transformed into a being of crackling blue energy, complete with new abilities and a totally new look! And before long, the villainous Cyborg Superman splits the Man of Steel into two beings: Superman Red and Superman Blue! Will Metropolis have two protectors?
Includes stories from SUPERMAN #122-125, ADVENTURES OF SUPERMAN #545-547, ACTION COMICS #732-734, SUPERMAN: THE MAN OF STEEL #67-69 and SUPERMAN ANNUAL #9.
On sale JULY 11 • 376 pg, $24.99 US
You'll see that trade collection is scheduled to include a reprint of Superman #124, which all Booster boosters will recognize as the last appearance of Booster's very briefly worn Mark X power suit, and the first appearance of Booster's slightly less briefly worn asymmetrical Mark XI power suit!

Words by Dan Jurgens; Art by Frenz, Rubenstein, et al
I'm sure you all have that one in your collections already, so you'll be able to pick up a backup reprint when this trade is released in July.
You can see all of DC's June solicitations at Newsarama.com.
