New Release: Blue and Gold 1

I wouldn't normally mention a new release until Wednesday, but we've been waiting since 1988 for this one so a day-and-date announcement feels warranted.

Now available at your Local Comic Shop (with — count 'em — 2 different covers):

© DC Comics

The preview of Blue and Gold #1 is available at community.dcuniverseinfinite.com (and lots of other sites online). But I know you don't need a preview before making up your mind on this one.

Buy this issue and make Skeets happy!

New Release: Justice League Infinity

The Justice League Unlimited returns to your Local Comic Shop today for their first new adventure since 2008 in Justice League Infinity #1.

The issue is co-written by Justice League International scribe J.M. DeMatteis, so you just know there are going to be some old-fashioned Blue and Gold antics.

I say let him eat cake!

Justice League Infinity is only a seven-issue mini-series, but if that's not enough Justice League Unlimited for you, DC has also released a new reprint collection of old JLU comics, Justice League Unlimited: Girl Power. Despite its focus on female heroes, Booster makes small appears in two of the stories in that reprint. Some Booster Gold is always better than no Booster Gold.

Buy either of these books and make Skeets happy!

New Old Release: DC Comics: Generations

Today at your Local Comic Shop:

© DC Comics

This hardcover reprint of Generations: Shattered and Generations: Forged is being called DC Comics: Generations because DC can't bear the thought of putting out a comic without a colon in the title.

According to solicitations, this book contains only those two comics plus the related prequel story from Detective Comics #1027. If you'd bought those three books when they came out like I did, you'd have paid $29.97 (or more, if also like me, you bought multiple covers of each issue... 2020 was a very lonely year). DC Comics: Generations has a cover price of $29.99. Two cents is small price for the convenience of having the whole story in one book.

And while you're at your Local Comic Shop, you'll also find Booster Gold in the Tales from the Dark Multiverse II collection, which reprints the alternate reality horror story from Tales from the Dark Multiverse: Wonder Woman: War of the Gods #1. If that's not enough colons for you, you're going to have to find a different publisher.

New Old Release: Superman The Man of Steel v3

I don't think I'd warned you this was coming, but today you can get your hands on Superman: The Man of Steel Volume 3, a reprint collection of twelve Superman comics from the 1980s. It just so happens that Booster appears in three of those:

© DC Comics
Action Comics #594

© DC Comics
Booster Gold #23

© DC Comics
Action Comics #596

Booster Gold sure was all over the place back in late 1987, early 1988. Ah, the good old days.

That last panel is just a cameo, but there's actually quite a good bit of Booster in this collection. Buy this reprint and make Skeets happy.

New Old Release: Superman Vol 4 Mythology

First things first: 26 Down in today's LA Times crossword puzzle (by Winston Emmons, edited by Rich Norris) is "Robot companion of superhero Booster Gold."

Hundreds of thousands of people work daily crosswords puzzles, so this is great exposure for Booster Gold. If you are one of them, and you are dropping by Boosterrific.com for the first time today, hello. The answer is "Skeets."

Elsewhere, those of us who read Booster Gold comic books will find slim pickings on the ol' periodical rack this week. To the best of my current knowledge, the only place you'll find our hero in the latest releases from DC Comics is in the pages of Superman Volume 4: Mythology, reprinting Superman #20-28, including this panel from Superman #23:

© DC Comics

I like that panel — artist Kevin Maguire's take on Blue and Gold *and* the Wonder Twins? Yes, please! — but I'm not sure it's worth $20 for an entire reprint collection.

Instead I'd encourage you to go out and pick up the single back issue from your Local Comic Shop where it's probably selling for... *looks it up on eBay* ... $25?!? Because it's the "1st appearance of Xanadoth"? Xanadoth? You've got to be kidding me. Xanadoth has been in exactly *two* comic books. Fat chance of seeing him as an answer in a crossword puzzle.

Ahem. As I was saying, $20 is a pretty good deal. Buy this issue and make Skeets (and cruciverbalists everywhere) happy.
