I wasn't criticizing, I was just saying a perfect 5-stars rating might have been a bit much.<br />I certainly was a good intriguing and well pace first issue and despite its flaws, a much better overall attempt than Jim Lee & Geoff Johns' JLA#1!

One of the things that I found was that while I don't perceive the book as necessarily a five-star issue in the abstract, I was hard-pressed to find anything to do with the actual story or art that drove the rating down for me. It'll be included as part of the second batch of reviews I'm doing in bulk for comicbook.com today sometime, along with Hawk & Dove, OMAC and all the many titles that start with S.

I found myself disapointed in the issue. The last few years has done so much for Booster's growth as a character that to me, it was a step backwards into more what he was han what he became. I know this is a different DCU than what we have been used to, but I'm going to the the mythology that was built up in the Booster Gold series. Wether or not Booster is still Rip Hunter's father remains to be seen, but I'm getting the idea that a large chunk of what happened in Booster's titel is no longer cannon, and that is disheartening.

speaking of the costume, is it wrong in this pic? Not just the dark "W" but there seems o be a second blue star (with 4 corners) under the normal one

In the annotations, I make note of several different panels where the costume appears to be significantly off-model. This may be because of Lopresti's typical inattentiveness to continuity of detail or a compressed turnaround timetable for inker or colorist. Of course all of the mistakes just illustrate how bad the new overly detailed design is.

This? That is no BOOSTER GOLD.<br />It's his cousin from an alternate world, BOOSTER BLUE!<br />(even though he does look gold in this above panel, the rest of the book, as a whole, sure made him look more blue-ysh than gold..but that's primary because of the design)

There is no JLI without Maxwell Lord. They even have the wrong Blue Beetle! But we do have a blue Booster Gold So far, this is a bit of a bust. Why go to the trouble of rebooting the Universe if you won't bring back cherished characters. Max (sans the intelligent computer powers) and Ted Kord are a must.

They didn't fix Booster, how random?!<br />And from the pages/previews I've seen, it seems he does have the Legion ring + his costume cover up a bit of his forehead unlike here on the cover....

Kinda, actually, can't wait for this...On a side note, about the Canadian-scene in DC that this site was on a kick about a bit ago....As a Canadian (hence the CDN name), I have always wondered about Canadian heroes, and I remember reading awhile back that Cyborg was born in Toronto, Ontario, Canada and raised there for a bit. Maybe this will give Michael and 'Borg a bit of a better relation in DCnU than it was earlier?
