I'm on record as saying I'm no fan of what Tom King has done to Booster Gold in issues of Batman and Heroes in Crisis. However, I cannot deny that my dissatisfaction has been softened considerably by some pretty fine art by King's collaborators.

Artist Tony Daniel is selling his original inks from Batman #45 on ComicArtFans.com. I'm not nuts about the story, but doesn't Daniel's Booster Gold look dashing as he crashes through that window? It can be yours for $700!

Also on ComicArtFans.com is the single greatest page in Heroes in Crisis #4. This Clay Mann piece isn't for sale, but it is definitely Boosterrific. "Bros before heroes" forever!

Now that we're 2/3 of the way through Heroes in Crisis, we should have all the players, even if we still don't know all the clues. That's means it's finally time to start guessing. Whondunnit?

DC released the above tease in the pages of DC Nation #2 last July. Note the promise that one of the indicated characters will be "a murderer," two would be murdered, and three would be accused. Let's pretend that DC was playing fair.

Thus far, it seems only Booster and Harley have been accused. Will share some blame? Aren't three of the characters in that ad dead? And, most importantly, who's the guilty party?

Though Heroes in Crisis seems to get all the column width around here, Booster Gold has appeared in two other titles in the past two weeks. Granted, they aren't major appearances, but they shouldn't be ignored.

First up: The Flash #65, as spotted by Shawn Baston.

As you can see, Booster has only a cameo appearance as a face (with the collar!) on the Batcomputer as Batman tries to decipher who else could be working with his enemies. Hmm. Booster Gold has been behaving oddly recently. Could it be...? Nah. Not our Booster.

Secondly: Doomsday Clock #9.

Taking place sometime after the conclusion to Heroes in Crisis, nearly every hero in the entire DC New Universe travels to Mars to confront Doctor Manhattan, who has the power to transform reality and may have killed Superman. We'll have to wait for Doomsday Clock #10 in April to see if our hero survived.

Keep your eyes peeled, everyone. Booster Gold could be anywhere!

Hey! Not sure if you saw, but WhatCulture posting an article about comic characters that people hate but shouldn't, and Booster is number 10 on the list.

Hrm. He sure is. According to Neil Gray, who wrote the article "10 Comic Book Characters Everyone Hates (And Why They're Wrong)":

A loud-mouthed braggart with ideas well above his station and a constant need for self-promotion, it's not difficult to see why people have a huge dislike for Booster Gold. Ever since Michael Jon Carter burst onto the scene in 1986 this one man showboating machine has just rubbed fans up the wrong way, and let us not forget here, the guy is nothing more than a thief.

Gray isn't wrong. While Booster obviously has a dedicated fan club — you're all lovely people — modern Internet forums do seem to be full of people who have never cared for the Corporate Crusader. And they do make a good case against him. Creator Dan Jurgens admitted as such while announcing the series' cancellation in the letter column of Booster Gold Volume 1, #25 way back in 1987.

One of the problems we always had with BOOSTER GOLD was the fact that he was really an unlikable character in some respects.

Jurgens softened Booster's origin somewhat in 1988's Secret Origins #35, but at the heart of it, Booster was still someone with an abrasive personality and a history of making some very poor decisions. Some people will never get past that. If Booster can live with that, so can I.

I have a bigger problem with the fact that the article includes Superman at number 7. (Show me someone who doesn't like Superman, and I'll show you someone who doesn't like Coca-Cola or apple pie. Blasphemers!) At least Gray tries to set those misguided miscreants' minds straight.

Booster booster and art collector Cort was at Vancouver Fan Expo last week, as he was last October and he picked up even more Boosterrific sketches. Here they are, with Cort's own commentary:

Liam Sharp, fellow Brit, said this was the first time he'd ever drawn Booster and really enjoyed it, he even asked me about the history of the character and we had quite the chat, he said he found it fascinating, one of the coolest origins he's heard. Plus I had to see how he'd tackle it, as it could be my only chance to see him do so, very grizzled! I love it.

The ever personable and great Ty Templeton was a joy to listen to. He held many interesting anecdotes of the comics industry. Signed me some Booster Gold and JLI comics too.

Tom Grummett whom was beside Ty did a fantastic Booster for me as well, it was everything I could ask for, it screams Booster Gold to me. The banter between Ty and he was very enjoyable and being able to geek out with them made me adore them all the more as they are just as much fans as we are.

And last but not least, Marcus To. Whom I only knew through some X-Men and Red Robin did a fascinating Poison Ivy for my girlfriend and all his proceeds went to the Comic Book Legal Defense Fund, so I decided to help put money towards some of the greats whom are dealing with pressing issues. Turned out great!
