Booster Gold Still in Wonder Woman's League

Newsarama.com has the latest solicitations from DC Comics. They don't give us much hope that we'll see our hero in any new comics this February, but Booster won't be entirely invisible. Booster will play a supporting role in the trade paperback Wonder Woman and the Justice League of America.

Over the past year, DC collected several Justice League International stories as Superman and the Justice League of America Volumes 1 and 2. They must have been a success.

The Wonder Woman collection will pick up where Superman left off. (It wasn't his fault. He died.) The trade will reprint Justice League America #78 through #85 and Guy Gardner #15. Booster is in a lot of those issues.

This is the first time some of these issues have been reprinted. If you missed these the first time around, you might want to consider picking this up when it is released on March 15, 2017.

Junk Food for Your Closet

DC Rebirth #1 is out today . . . and according to Newsarama.com, Booster Gold is not in it.

On an unrelated note, long time Booster booster Shawn Baston wrote in to chastise me for not pointing out that the May Previews catalog solicited a new Booster Gold t-shirt:

This shirt from Junk Food Clothing reproduces the cover of Booster Gold #1. It should be available in late July for about $18.00. This is a Previews exclusive, so if you want it, be sure to tell your Local Comic Shop so that they can order one for you.

Thanks, Shawn. Now that I know you're paying attention, I'll try harder!

I Hope You Enjoyed Bat-Mite

Did you pick up the Bat-Mite trade on Wednesday? If not, what are you saving your money for? It certainly isn't for Booster Gold comics, because DC isn't making those.

May solicitations were revealed earlier this week. If you read the previous paragraph, you can guess what that means: no new Gold in sight.

While Booster doesn't look to be having any new adventures in May, he will be returning in reprints of some of our old favorites. DC will be re-releasing trades of 52 Book One and Superman: Panic in the Sky, both collecting comics published about 10 or 24 years ago, respectively.

Maybe DC has a point. Why should they work on making new Booster Gold comics when they already have a back catalog of great stories to sell to today's kids too young to remember the good old days? Kids still read comics, right?

You can find the whole list of DC's solicitations at Newsarama.com.

BAT-MITE #4
Written by DAN JURGENS
Art and cover by CORIN HOWELL
On sale SEPTEMBER 2 • $2.99 US

There's a new bad guy in town: Gridlock, the villain who's stuck in the past! And now, he's out to stop the future from coming! Booster Gold, the hero from the future, obviously can't allow that, but when he seeks Bat-Mite's help in finding this purloiner of progress, it doesn't take much of a prognosticator to predict that he's going to regret it.

Booster's first headlining role in the post-Convergence DCU comes courtesy of who else but Booster's proud papa, Dan Jurgens. And look: New Skeets!

You can see all the announced books (including the many, many Convergence collections, some of which contain reprints of Convergence Booster Gold) online at Newsarama.com.

UPDATE 2015-06-19: This is the second time in recent weeks I have accidentally let a post go early. I promise to try and be more careful from here on. So if you saw this post yesterday, please forgive this repost.

To make amends, I offer this bonus link to a Dan Jurgens and Corin Howell interview at Comicosity.com about Bat-Mite. The interview is light on Booster Gold references, but not everything can be solid gold, right?

The Son He Never Had

Newsarama.com got the first look at the upcoming Convergence: Booster Gold #1. And the revelations just keep coming.

© DC Comics

New 52 has no idea who Rip Hunter is. That seems to make it pretty clear that there are no Time Masters in the New 52 continuity. One more reason to hope it doesn't survive Convergence.

What else will we see when we get our hands on the full issue of Convergence: Booster Gold #1 this Wednesday? I'm pulling for a meeting between New 52 Skeets and post-52 Skeets. (IhopeIhopeIhope!)
