You may recall that when first announced, Heroes in Crisis was originally intended to be a seven issue series with a couple of stand-alone tie-in books. Plans changed, and those stand-alone issues were folded into the series.

The first was issue #3, which focused in part on Booster Gold's actions just before the story started. The second, issue #6, comes out today. Judging the book by its cover, I think we can expect it to show what Harley Quinn was doing when the Sanctuary killings began.

Note that Mitch Gerads is the credited artist for the issue, replacing Clay Mann. Mann's art has been the strength of the series so far, but Gerads shouldn't be considered a step down. Gerads worked with series writer Tom King to create their acclaimed Mister Miracle mini-series.

Also note that neither the issue's solicitation text nor the preview, available on SuperheroHype.com, guarantee Booster Gold will actually appear in the issue. I'll be buying it anyway.

[UPDATE: Booster appears on exactly one page. I think. (It's getting increasingly hard to tell what "reality" is in this series).]

Look! Up in the sky! It's Heroes in Crisis #5!

I've already shown you the issue's awesome Clay Mann splash page featuring everyone's favorite color-coordinated buddy comedy duo, but today I can do better. Check out the issue preview at Newsarama.com to read Booster's genius plan to get access to the evidence that has so far stumped both Batman and the Flash. The Sanctuary Killer doesn't stand a chance against the combined mental might of Blue and Gold!

Multiple people reached out to me in the past two days to alert me that Booster Gold got a shout out in Naomi #1. Check it out:

Naomi is set in Port Oswego, the DCU version of "flyover country" where appearances by superheroes are few and far between. The implication in the dialog is that Booster Gold and Blue Devil are among the least celebrated heroes, the bottom of the barrel. That's cool. It means Booster Gold's secret identity is working!

You can pick up Naomi #1 now wherever fine comic books are sold.

Begin the year with more death! Heroes in Crisis #4 is in stores today.

DCComics.com has the issue preview. Barry Allen still thinks that Booster is guilty, but that cover says differently.

Honestly, I'm beginning to think that there have been no murders at all. Perhaps the whole thing is just one big, bad hallucination in the mind of one PTSD-addled character. But Tom King wouldn't do that twice. Would he?

Logan Peterson has called me out on my failure to mention that in addition to Heroes in Crisis #3, Booster Gold also appeared last week in two additional comics!

First was Aquaman/Justice League: Drowned Earth Special #1, where our hero can bee seen among the Leaguers admiring the new Aquaman statue.

Second, Booster is barely visible on the dance floor in the story "The Birds of Christmas Past, Present, and Future" in DC Nuclear Winter Special #1.

As you can see, both were cameo appearances rather than the starring role Booster has in HiC, but any Booster is good Booster! Thanks, Logan.
