Born Again Again

Newsarama.com has DC Comics' December solicitations, and I'm sorry to report that Booster Gold continues to be the one character from Heroes in Crisis who hasn't gotten his own title. What's up with that, DC?

It's not all bad news, however. DC has confirmed a new reprint of the early Justice League International issues.

JUSTICE LEAGUE INTERNATIONAL BOOK ONE: BORN AGAIN TP
written by KEITH GIFFEN, J.M. DeMATTEIS, and JOHN OSTRANDER
art by KEVIN MaGUIRE, KEITH GIFFEN, LUKE McDONNELL and others
cover by KEVIN MAGUIRE and TERRY AUSTIN
In these 1980s tales, find out what happens when Batman, Superman, and the Justice League face a galactic invasion fleet known as the Cluster, exchange harsh words with Lobo, track Mister Miracle back to Apokolips, and then battle yet another invasion fleet! Collects Justice League #1-6, Justice League International #7-17, Justice League Annual #1, Justice League International Annual #2, and Suicide Squad #13.
ON SALE January 15, $39.99 US, 552 PAGES

Those are a lot of great comics. If you haven't read these issues — and even if you have — you should consider picking up this collection using modern printing techniques. Despite what Dan DiDio says, those early Justice League International stories are great comics.

Speaking of Heroes in Crisis spin-offs, Booster booster Logan alerts us to an appearance in today's releases.

I was afforded a sneak-peak of Flash Forward #1 at my store, and I can report that Booster makes an appearance in the issue. It's a brief one, but it's Booster! :)

Always good to know Booster's coming. Thanks, Logan.

This Week in Panels: Bros Before Heroes

Booster Gold appeared in two comics this week. The one I didn't mention on Wednesday was Old Lady Harley #3. It seems that in the future, Booster will have his own Las Vegas casino.

(Thanks again to Logan Peterson for the spot.)

The other one was, as you are no doubt aware, was Heroes in Crisis #4. And while I have mentioned it already this week, it deserves a repeat post because of this panel alone.

Ah, Blue Beetle and Booster Gold. My heroes.

We still don't know what the shared history of these two is in the Rebirth DCnU. (It can't be time spent in the Justice League.) But who cares.

The friendship of Booster Gold and Blue Beetle cannot be destroyed by Maxwell Lord, Superboy punches, Doctor Manhattan ex machina or any other continuity-destroying device that DC throws at them.

Old Releases: Drowned Earth and Nuclear Winter

Logan Peterson has called me out on my failure to mention that in addition to Heroes in Crisis #3, Booster Gold also appeared last week in two additional comics!

First was Aquaman/Justice League: Drowned Earth Special #1, where our hero can bee seen among the Leaguers admiring the new Aquaman statue.

Second, Booster is barely visible on the dance floor in the story "The Birds of Christmas Past, Present, and Future" in DC Nuclear Winter Special #1.

As you can see, both were cameo appearances rather than the starring role Booster has in HiC, but any Booster is good Booster! Thanks, Logan.

Booster Gold Fans Are the Best Fans

Let me take this opportunity to say that Boosterrific.com would not be Boosterrible if not for the support of Booster Gold fans worldwide. Thank you all. Today I will illustrate that in two ways:

First of all, big congratulations to Logan Peterson, who sent me this recent email:

I'm happy to say I just celebrated a long-awaited achievement. After years of scouring through longboxes and haggling with online vendors, I completed my Booster Gold floppy collection this weekend! With my procurement of Suicide Squad #13, I've officially collected a copy of every issue Michael Jon Carter has appeared in to date according to the database. :)

As I was double-checking my collection against the Boosterific listings to make sure I hadn't missed anything, I actually found that there were two Booster appearances not listed in the database. Check out Tales of the Teen Titans #89 and 90--Booster shows up briefly in all his caped glory.

How awesome is that? Answer: very awesome.

Logan was right. I did not have those Tales of the Teen Titans in the Boosterrific database. Those issues were reprints of New Teen Titans #29 and 30 which I had somehow overlooked... for 30 years. *sigh* But that oversight is now corrected. Thanks, Logan!

My second proof that Booster Gold fans are the best is our old friend The Blot, who via pointed me to this Instagram post by 23kidoo (aka Scott Swanson):

23kidooCreated this line of books for Hallmark and have gotten to work with some great folks in the process. @steve_willaredt on this, one of my favorites in the series. Being able to stray from core heroes and do @Bizarro 👍. A few Easter Eggs in there for fun #boostergold + each book comes with an itty bitty plush.

That book by Alex Boney and Steve Willaredt (in which tiny Booster Gold and friends appear to help Bizarro fix everything) is officially called the itty bittys® Superman Bizarro Fixes Everything Stuffed Animal and Book Set. You can buy it on Hallmark.com for $19.95. It was released last year, and I may never have known about it without a shout out from The Blot. Thanks, Blot!

Keep all the tips coming, Booster boosters! If you ever find anything that you think Booster Gold fans should know about, you can always drop me a line through my convenient contact form. You're all the best.

New Release: Titans Special

Booster booster Logan Peterson dropped by my mailbox to deliver this good news.

I spotted Mr. Carter in the opening pages of Titans Special #1. A small cameo, but each appearance is precious. :)

Titans Special #1 by Dan Abnett and "various"

Booster isn't likely to ever join the Titans, but it's nice to know that the Justice League has their eyes on him. There just might be a spot on the team for our hero should some of their other new recruits not work out. (I hear The Demon isn't much of a team player.)

You can find a preview of Titans Special #1 on ScreenRant.com and the book itself now on the shelf of your Local Comic Shop.

Thanks again, Logan.
