New Release: Justice League: Dark Tomorrow #1

Justice League: Dark Tomorrow Special #1 arrives in your Local Comic Shop today, and Booster Gold is on not one, not two, but three of the covers! (The fourth is Gold Beetle!) You can see them all here.

AIPTComics.com has the preview in which we learn that Waverider is once again Mathew Ryder, and he dies. (Again. He dies a lot in these big, universe-threatening events. He seems to be made to suffer. It's his lot in life.)

But I'm sure you don't need to see that preview to know you want a copy (or three). Buy multiple covers of this issue and make Skeets very happy!

UPDATE: I don't understand. DC puts Booster Gold on all the covers, then doesn't actually put him in the book. (It really wants readers to believe that "Legend" is Booster Gold, but those clues just don't add up.) I guess you got me to buy extra copies of your comic, DC, but I'm not happy about it, and I'm certainly less inclined to do it again.

It has since shown up for me (not living in the US) as being available for pre-order with a release date of 31.08.2025.

From what reviews ive read this "Legend" character is most likely Rip or a variant but thats all speculation

The guess of Rip is because of explicit references to DC 's Legends of Tomorrow, which makes sense given that the writer is that show's co-creator, Mark Guggenheim. However, there's a line in there in which Legend appears to call herself "girl," so I'm inclined think either Legend's male physique costume design is an intentional misdirection (in more than one panel, it reminds me of LoT's Atom costume) and Legend is someone like Sarah Lance, or maybe it's the shapeshifter Charlie.

Random thought tho.... does it seem that the powers that be at DC are"divorcing" Ted and Booster. He'd have been perfect to interview Gold Beetle and they pretty much have made him Mr Terrifcs sidekick.

Ted deserves better than to be anyone's sidekick. And could be Rip (and the self-reference some kind of joke), could be Michelle, could be Rani. Which would be super cool on the last point. Time'll tell.

As for breaking up the de facto husbands-- it'll only work until they have no choice but to stick them back together. All things in comics come around eventually.

King of the One-Shots

It's been so long since Booster Gold appeared in a monthly DC Comics solicitation that I've forgotten how I used to format these posts, but since Booster is actually on the cover of a comic book for the first time since October.... No, wait. Scratch that. He's on three covers for the same book:

I wonder if this story will explore Gold Beatle's back story and her connection to Booster and Beatles.

I'd expect that any future revelations about the backstory of Gold Beetle would come from her creator, Jeremy Adams. This is giving me TIME MASTERS: VANISHING POINT vibes (with Booster in the Bruce Wayne role this time).

I don't expect anything too deep but take Red Canary for example. No one knew her story. There was a ton of theories on what her deal was. Only for Mark Waid's Dark Crisis tie-in to explain 'she was just a big Black Canary who decided to take up the mask.' We didn't get details but just got a vibe. So like I expect a through away line like IDK referencing the death of her parents, the Scarab War 3, or something like that.

I'm just dead amused that someone managed to give them a fan-child and get away with it. -snickers- More seriously, though, I hope it's better than Time Masters: Vanishing Point ended up being (IMO) and I'm also appropriately nervous because DC hasn't handled Booster consistently well since before Flashpoint and I am desperately hoping they break that streak. We'll have to see how it goes.

Boy these covers sure allude to Booster not making it past this issue. They wouldn't kill off a character who's supposed to get his own TV show that doesn't have a script yet, would they?

this looks awesome!! As someone who enjoyed the JSA and likes Booster Gold and Batman Beyond that's 3 of my favorite characters.

The only upside I can see to them knocking Booster off would be that Tom King wouldn't be able to write him anymore. But I don't think they will, honestly. He's too popular a character to get permanently axed, I'll bet. For a given definition of permanent, anyway, since this are comics we're talking about and no one stays dead forever.
