Not Another Booster Gold Appearance
Booster booster Logan wrote me last week to ask if I'd seen the latest (and final) issue of Justice League 3001. He wanted to know if I'd seen this:
That sure looks like Booster Gold's body in the rubble beside Ice. However, it doesn't make any sense for Booster to be there.
Booster and his pal, Blue Beetle, disappeared from the series after the evil Lady Styx took over the universe in issue #7. The climactic battle, which Booster didn't participate in, took place on Paradise Island, a secret location Booster couldn't have reached. So how could that be him on the ground?
My theory is that's not Booster, but the body of the evil clone of Wildfire of the Legion of Super-Heroes. Wildfire also has a star on his chest, and appears throughout the issue. (You can see him at the bottom center of the cover above.) I suspect that the issue inker or colorist saw Wildfire's body on the ground surrounded by the reincarnated JLI and mistakenly detailed it as Booster Gold.
I reached out on Twitter to issue writer J.M. DeMatteis to ask if he'd intended to show a dead Booster Gold. This was his response:
So there we have it. It may look like Booster Gold's costume, but it's not Booster Gold.
Whew.

New Release: Justice League 3001 #6
No title in recent memory has been as unpredictable as Justice League 3001. The title is the personal playground of Keith Giffen and J.M. DeMatteis, and there are a whole bunch of players in their sandbox, all moving in apparently random directions. Even the covers tend to be something other than what you might expect.
The cover on the left is the cover to issue 6 that was solicited two months ago. The cover on the right is the cover you'll see at your Local Comic Shop today. If you take a good look at it, you'll see Booster Gold's legs on the upper left behind the creators' names. That makes it pretty likely we'll be seeing Booster in this book.
If you'd like to try before you buy, find a preview of the issue alongside an interview with Keith Giffen at Comicosity.com.
UPDATE 2015-11-28: No, there is no Booster Gold inside, only on the cover. The Booster-drought continues unabated.

New Release: Justice League 3001 #3
Justice League 3001 #3 is in your Local Comic Shop today. This is the one that series writer J.M. DeMatteis promised on Twitter finally had Booster Gold and Blue Beetle in it. (They haven't been seen since before Justice League 3000 was canceled and restarted following Convergence.)
The preview for today's issue is available online at blastr.com. I don't see Booster and Beetle in it, but I'm sure that DeMatteis wasn't lying to us.
Buy this issue and make Skeets happy.

New Release: Justice League 3001 #2
We learned last month on Twitter (from writer J.M. DeMatteis, no less) that Booster Gold won't be showing up in Justice League 3001 until next month's issue #3. But if you want to have any idea what's going on then, you really might want to consider picking up today's issue #2.
You can find a preview online at ComicBookResources.com.

Reading Forgotten Misfortune Cookies
You are all no doubt familiar with the work of J.M. DeMatteis, the Justice League International writer who must share credit for making Booster Gold the man we know and love today. (And if you're not, shame on you!) DeMatteis has been writing for Booster Gold off and on for nearly three decades, but it turns out that he's written more than we've previously seen.
On Wednesday, DeMatteis posted on his blog a treatment for an rejected Justice League Unlimited episode featuring Martian Manunter and his Oreos addiction (as explored elsewhere in Martian Manhunter #24). Naturally, Booster Gold has a part to play.
"So," Booster says, "we're doing security, right?" "So," J'onn replies, "you're doing security, wrong." Bwanna Beast gets very excited, thinking that means they're the ones J'onn is picking to do the actual negotiations. "Even I'm," Booster says, "not stupid enough to believe that." "Thus exhibiting a level of self-knowledge," J'onn interjects, "that I thought was beyond you." "Thanks," Booster replies. "I think."
If you like DeMatteis' humorous writing or Martian Manhunter or JLU, you owe it to yourself to visit J.M. DeMatteis' Creation Point and give it a read.
