Will You Look at That

Over the weekend FZ writes, "Found a poster you might not be aware of!"

Justice League Spectacular promo poster via ebay Knight Street Comics

That's obviously an in-store promotional poster for Justice League Spectacular from 1992, currently listed for sale on eBay by Knight Street Comics.

And FZ is right. I had not seen that before. The question now is what do I do with this new information?

Boosterrific does have a listing of officially licensed DC posters including Booster Gold appearances (including the one seen on the above poster) here. However, this particular poster is really more of an advertisement and would not have been available to the general public. Do I add this to the posters list anyway? Or do I just leave it here on the blog, which is the catch-all for things I don't know where else to put.

I'm currently thinking the latter, but if you feel differently, let me know. Thanks, FZ.

Other Media Update

Look, I'm just one guy. I miss things. Thankfully, you Booster boosters have my back.

Example 1: Rob Snow has brought to my attention that the latest edition of The DC Comics Encyclopedia: The Definitive Guide to the Characters of the DC Universe from DK/Penguin Random House is out, with returning entries for Booster Gold, Skeets, and several Blue Beetles. This latest 2026 edition also contains a new entry for Gold Beetle.

Thanks, Rob. The Boosterrific! Books list has been updated accordingly.

Example 2: FZ alerts me that the site has for years been overlooking the Booster Gold trading card included in the Mattel Justice League Unlimited action figures. It took quite a bit of online investigation to discover that there were 19 different cards in that set, distributed randomly among the figures, so you could get a Booster Gold card (featuring art from the greatest JLU episode, "The Greatest Story Never Told") with a Superman figure or vice versa.

Thanks, FZ. The Boosterrific! Trading Cards list has been updated accordingly.

Keep your eyes open, Booster boosters. Our hero is everywhere!

Old Release: Firestorm the Nuclear Man 71

At the risk of turning Boosterrific into a blog of apparently random, marginally Booster Gold-adjacent comic book panels, here's another one. The twist is that this one, although published in January 1988, is brand new to Boosterrific!

Presenting Firestorm, the Nuclear Man #71, page 10:

© DC Comics

I had somehow previously overlooked this page until FZ called my attention to it in a recent email.

I say "somehow," but I'm not too broken up about it. Nineteen eighty-eight was Pre-Internet, and back in the day the only way to be sure who was in what comic book was to read them all yourself, which I did not. Disclaimer: I still don't. That's why I need other people to keep me informed when they spot Booster Gold somewhere out of the ordinary... like in a background panel of an incomprehensible Firestorm comic book.

Thanks, FZ! Keep up the good work (by which I mean read more comics)!

Lost and Found

My Halloween treat was this email from Booster booster FZ:

Was just reading Manhunter #4 cover date Oct 88 and spotted a kinda sorta Booster Gold cameo on page 4. Wasn't sure if you knew about this. Happy Halloween.

Wow! Somehow, no, I did *not* know about that.

For reference, this is the panel that FZ is referring to:

© DC Comics

FZ is right. That's not really Booster Gold. It's not even a flashback. The apparition appears only as a helpful illustration for the reader to reinforce Olivia Vancroft's speach about the power of masks. That sort of thing is kind of rare in modern comic books.

Rare or not, it is an appearance previously undocumented in the Boosterrific.com database. How could I have I overlooked that for all these years? Perhaps there was some sort of crisis that caused all of history to be re-written around me so that things I once thought I knew have changed in unexpected ways. Yeah, that's the ticket.

In any event, thanks to FZ, that oversight has now been corrected.

If anyone else ever spots an appearance they don't think I'm tracking, please reach out to correct me. Booster boosters everywhere will thank you.
