Coming Soon: Blue and Gold 6
DC Comics January solicitations came out Friday and gave us our first look at Blue and Gold #6:

BLUE AND GOLD #6
story by DAN JURGENS
art & cover by RYAN SOOK
Peacemaker variant cover by SIMONE DI MEO
ON SALE January 18 · $3.99 US
Booster and Beetle are lost in space! After a disastrous first day on their new jobs as hero business owners and operators, the duo has found themselves kidnapped and stranded on an alien world. Who's to blame? Well, the Omnizon of course! Welcome to her home planet, Br'Honn, where a battle to the death between friends is just another Tuesday!
Um, are we not going to mention that's Blackguard on the cover?
And second question, will that Peacemaker variant cover have anything to do with the content of the issue, or will it be like The Suicide Squad variant for issue 2 that could only possibly have confused and/or disappointed unwary bait-and-switched readers who bought the issue expecting a blood-spattered orgy of cynical ultraviolence only to find the bromantic antics of Blue Beetle and Booster Gold inside instead? (Asking for a friend.)
Also in the January solicitations is Human Target #4, which has Blue Beetle on the cover. The solicitation is vague, but wherever Beetle is, Booster can't be too far behind. Will he be in this? I guess we'll find out for sure on January 25.

Old Friends Are the Best Friends
The cover of Blue and Gold #3 teases "the million-dollar debut of Buggles," but the real guest of honor in this issue is...

It has been too long, girl! For those who don't remember, Trixie was Booster's first secretary at Goldstar, Inc. (as seen in the immortal Booster Gold #1 in 1985). Trixie was also the first to wear the Goldstar uniform. She and Booster made a great team back in the day.
When Booster joined the JLI full time, he and Trixie drifted apart. In fact, we haven't seen her since Chase #4 (in 1998!) while she was landlord to the Teen Titans. As you might expect from two former friends who couldn't make the time to maintain their relationship, their relationship was a bit frosty at the time.

It's good to see they've both grown past that.
In one of his long-lost-to-the-web "Gold Exchange" columns — presumably one that will be reprinted in his upcoming book — Russ Burlingame once reported that Dan Jurgens had plans to revisit Trixie in Booster Gold Volume 2, but the title was canceled before it ever happened. Thanks to DC for giving Jurgens another opportunity to bring Trixie back.
For more about Booster Gold's original secretary (and second sidekick), see my Character Spotlight on Trixie Collins.

New Release: Blue and Gold 3
I don't normally run "New Release" postings until a book is available for purchase, but I'm making an exception for tomorrow's Blue and Gold #3 because it has taken so long to get to this point.
You may recall that the issue was originally solicited for a September 27 release, but there have been... unforeseen complications. After Blue and Gold #2 failed to make its planned ship date in August, DC announced that COVID-19 inspired supply chain delays (mostly in paper stock) have resulted in a nearly line-wide cascading production disruption. For example, Blue and Gold #4, originally planned for October 19, will be postponed until at least November 9. Yikes.
So the fact that we're getting a Blue and Gold #3 at all is an event worth celebrating. But there's one other curveball, as revealed in the preview pages now available at BleedingCool.com:

The originally solicited artist, Ryan Sook, still has cover duties, but as the credits above indicate, interior art for the issue are provided by Cully Hamner instead. Hamner has done a lot of work for DC over the past three decades, but this will be his first Booster Gold comic. I am looking forward to seeing it. I hope you are too.
So don't forget to drop by your LCS this week to pick up Blue and Gold #3 and make Skeets happy.

This Post Title Has Been Delayed
We were told to expect Blue and Gold #3 this week, and DCcomics.com still says it's coming. But — and this is a big "but" — DC's distributor, LunarDistribution.com, says otherwise. And Comixology.com has removed the issue from their site entirely.
So what I'm saying is don't expect to find Blue and Gold at your Local Comic Shop this week. Maybe next week? Maybe?
However, there is some good news for Booster boosters. Both Booster and Beetle are on the David Marquez cover of this week's Justice League #68!

(If this looks familiar, it's because we took a first look at the grinning mugs of Booster Gold and Blue Beetle in the original line art back in June.)
At least the boys have a good excuse for being late. It's not every week they get to hang out with the A-listers.

Appetite for Destruction
The full slate of DC December solicitations came to us over the weekend, and it looks like Booster Gold fans will have something new to read.

BLUE & GOLD #5
Written by DAN JURGENS
Art and cover by RYAN SOOK
ON SALE December 21
Blue and Gold Restoration is open for business! Only issue is, our duo is falling apart while their waiting room is packed to the brim with mostly illegitimate problems. Now Omnizon, self-appointed ruler of Earth, is here to sentence Booster and Beetle to death for disobeying her royal rule of the land. It'll take a friend from the future to save their present and prevent a PR nightmare that could close their operation for good!
If that teased, death-defying cover is any indication, it sure looks like our "friend from the future" is none other than Rip Hunter, Time Master! Hooray!
Also coming in December:

HUMAN TARGET #3
Written by TOM KING
Art and cover by GREG SMALLWOOD
ON SALE December 28
Christopher Chance is a man on a deadline and working to solve a crime that might be unsolvable. Despite his better judgment, he's falling for his lead suspect, and her violent ex-boyfriend isn't happy about it. Oh, and that ex? He's a Green Lantern.
I don't have any idea what Booster Gold has to do with this series, and I remain completely unenthusiastic about Tom King putting words in Booster's mouth again. (Keep your hands off my hero, Tom!) But I can't be mad at Greg Smallwood's cover. I promise to try to reserve judgement until I get it in my hands this December.
You can find a complete list of solicitations, including the previously discussed One-Star Squadron, at gamesradar.com.
