Circle of Life
Recent years have been pretty good to us, Booster boosters, but a growing lack of evidence indicates that we may very well be entering another drought of Booster Gold comics.
There have been many long stretches between new in-continuity appearances in Booster's nearly 4 decade career. The longest drought was the 574-day streak between 2015's Bat-Mite #4 and 2017's Booster Gold/The Flintstones Special. (And if you're the sort who considers that Flintstones crossover to be out of continuity, it would be another 239 days until Action Comics #992!) You might notice that gap correlates with DC's "Rebirth" period, during which DC was too busy course correcting from the New 52 debacle to devote much space to characters who don't appear regularly on kid's pajamas and party favors. I don't think it's a coincidence that the current fade-out is occurring simultaneously with another line-wide relaunch (this time correcting for Crisis on Infinite Earths?).
Anyway, the point here isn't to criticize DC's backwards-looking publishing strategy. (I mean, I am looking forward to the Fire & Ice miniseries, although that won't come out until September.) The point is to try and figure out how Boosterrific.com can weather the storm — or, more accurately, the lack of one.
What shall I post about in a Booster Gold news vacuum? New news mostly writes itself, but trying to generate content from whole cloth takes time and creativity I don't always have. I've been thinking about rerunning some old content on the theory that it might reach a new audience. (Does anyone ever read old blog posts?) I don't really want to cut back on the number of days I post, but is that the better solution if it keeps the quality of my posts higher? If anyone has any good ideas, I'm all ears.
In the meantime, let's all hope that I'm misreading the signs, and we'll be getting plenty of new Booster Gold comics sooner rather than later.

My Favorite Pages: Action Comics 594
So far this series has only featured pages from books in which Booster Gold has appeared on multiple pages. But I'm about to break that rule, because Booster's actually seen on only in one page of Action Comics #594!
Hint: it's not this one:
The loose sketchiness of John Byrne's art here is well suited to the big, dramatic motion in its panels. It reads well, unencumbered by unnecessary detail.
And, of course, as a proud supporter of Team Booster, having Booster crash Superman's traditional "Look, up in the sky" introduction before destroying the Man of Steel's overblown image is an extra nice touch. Bwam!

Old Old Release: Forever People 6
Writes Coin:
I couldn't see it on the site, but Booster has a cameo in issue 6 of the '88 Forever People mini on the two page spread on pages 12 and 13. Hope I haven't just missed it on the site somewhere.
No, you didn't miss it. I did.
The second volume to feature Jack Kirby's Forever People was written by J.M. DeMatteis, who was also at the time co-scripting the Justice League International. So it makes sense that there would be a little crossover.
Justice League International #11 saw the team fight The Construct. That fight, drawn by Kevin Maguire, looked like this:
That same fight was briefly referenced in a single gutter-spanning panel in the sixth and final issue of Forever People Volume 2, here drawn by Paris Cullen:
Thanks to Coin for bringing it to my attention.

New Old Release: 52 Pick-Up TPB
Last week, DC released its retailer solicitations for July 2023, and about the only thing I can say about it is that Booster boosters are going to be able to save a bunch of money on comic books this summer.
The only sign of our hero is the DC Vs. Vampires: All Out- War Part 2 collection, and I'd never recommend anyone should even read that, let alone buy it.
But rather than focus on our summer without Gold — there will be plenty of time for that later — let's stay positive and keep an eye on what we're getting this week: the re-release of Booster Gold: 52 Pick-Up.
DC is calling this the 2023 edition. So far as I'm aware, the only thing different from the 2008 printing is the price, but I can't begrudge that. Everything is more expensive now than it was 15 years ago.
In fact, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, what cost you $14.99 in 2008 should cost you $20.89 today. Turns out that Booster Gold: 52 Pick-Up 2023 Edition is a bargain! Buy a copy for everyone in your family.
UPDATE: I got an email from Marty pointing out that Skeets is on the solicited Dan Mora cover for Batman/Superman: World's Finest #17 due on July 18. That's definitely something to look forward to!

My Favorite Pages: Booster Gold 22
As Brandon has accurately pointed out in comments on other entries in this series, Booster Gold #22 is indeed a downer. Bad things happen to Our Hero, and worse things happen to his family. But that drama actually makes for a pretty good comic book.
One of those bad things is a large gray monster more powerful than the assembled might of the entire Justice League International.
In hindsight, especially under the direction of Dan Jurgens, this feels more than a little like a Doomsday scenario, don't you think?
Page 10 above is certainly a lot of fun, but it's hardly the only great page. Page 13 is also a blast — or perhaps I should say a "ba thooomm"? — and pages 18, 19, and 22, though less fun, are masterfully delivered full-page compositions. If you chose any of those as your favorite page of the issue, I certainly wouldn't argue.
