Dressing Up for New York Comic Con 2012

I know you were waiting for cosplay pics from last week's New York Comic Con 2012. So here they are.

This picture was found at Kotaku.com. A man, his machine... It looks like there's love in the air. (Yes, we did meet this fellow earlier this year.)

The second picture of Bare Midriff Booster, Mister Miracle, Dr. Fate, and Bare Midriff Beetle comes by way of Uproxx.com (which credits its pic to by Steven Leung at Flickr.com). As much as I love seeing Mister Miracle, something about that mask is really giving me the creeps. But I love Booster's purse!

Friends in High Places

Funny, isn't it, that when we take Booster Gold specifically out of the question, enthusiasm for a generic, selfish glory-seeker in the White House drops significantly.

Last week's poll question: If a celebrity like Booster Gold ran for President, would you be likely to vote for him? (39 votes)

If a celebrity like Booster Gold ran for President, would you be likely to vote for him?

As you all know by now, Booster Gold got his nom de guerre from none other than United States President Ronald Reagan himself. With friends like that, Booster could have a real career in politics without ever even having to be elected.

Month 4 and Counting

Blue Beetle finally gets the axe in January, so any hope that Booster would reappear in that series can be extinguished. Also canceled in DC's January solicitations released earlier this week are Frankenstein Agent of S.H.A.D.E., Grifter, and Legion Lost (which also saw a Booster appearance in issue #5).

The January solicitations don't give any evidence that Booster will be seen anywhere this month. There is no news yet on what will be replacing any of those books, but let's keep our fingers crossed for better news in February.

Booster Gold in the Fire and Water Podcast

Rob Kelly of Aquaman Shrine and The Irredeemable Shag of Firestorm Fan turned the latest The Fire and Water Podcast into an hour-long interview with Dan Jurgens, who takes over as writer and artist for Fury of Firestorm starting with issue #13 next week.

Of course, there can be no discussion with Dan Jurgens that doesn't touch on his greatest creation, Booster Gold. For an interview ostensibly about Firestorm, Rob, Shag, and Dan mention Booster Gold surprisingly frequently. (We all know that Firestorm just isn't as interesting as Booster Gold.)

Jurgens discusses how he came to work on Booster Gold in the first place, his interaction with Booster Gold cosplayers, and how he had to adapt Booster Gold for the New 52.

Jurgens: "I don't think that Booster Gold had to change, because he was still fairly true.... Booster was still very consistent, on model with his basic beginnings."

If you're a fan of Firestorm, Dan Jurgens, or comic book artists in general, consider dropping over to fireandwaterpodcast.tumblr.com and give a listen.
