It's Not You, It's Me
It sounds a stupid thing to type out loud, but I'm having a hard time mustering enthusiasm for posting about Booster Gold.
It's not Booster's fault. I'm having a hard time mustering enthusiasm for just about anything right now.
Independence Day happens to be my favorite holiday, so I'm just going to take an extended weekend off and hope that the spirit of John Adams will reinvigorate me. (He always had a knack for mustering enthusiasm, that John Adams.)
While I'm on leave, if you're in need of some Boosterrific entertainment this weekend, perhaps you'll enjoy the recent JLUCast podcast on the topic of the undisputed greatest Justice League Unlimited episode, "The Greatest Story Never Told," starring one Booster Gold. I must admit that I haven't mustered the enthusiasm to listen to it myself, but I trust Shag and company over at The Fire and Water Podcast Network to do good work.
Enjoy your weekend.

Fire and Water and Blue and Gold
Last Sunday, the Fire and Water Podcast Network's JLI Podcast released a new episode in which the Irredeemable Shag interviewed Dan Jurgens and discussed Blue and Gold.
I... haven't listened to all of it yet. I mean, I did hear the part about the sponsor, InStockTrades.com, having the Booster Gold volume 1 hardcover collections on sale for 45% off. (Just in time for Christmas!) That part was pretty good.
But I seriously do have the utmost faith in both Shag and Dan, and I don't think you should have to wait for me to find the time to finish it before I inevitably recommend the episode to Booster boosters everywhere.
If you are better at managing your time than I am, you can listen to the podcast at fireandwaterpodcast.com.

New Beard for Batman
Earlier this week via Twitter, Tony Daniel revealed that the cover for Batman 46 has been changed from the cover solicited. I have to say, I like the new cover much better. Just look at the crazy thing happening here:
No, I'm not talking about gun-toting Batman or Batman Returns Catwoman. I only have eyes for Booster Gold's beard!
Facial hair is a rarity for Booster. It's certainly not something that Shag and Rob mentioned when they covered the character's vitals in their recent Fire and Water Network "Who's Who DC Universe Podcast." They're pretty thorough, though, so I'm sure they'll correct that oversight when they get around to doing the "Update '18" podcast.
To find out why Booster has grown a beard, I guess we'll all have to buy Batman #46 when it hits our Local Comic Shops on May 2.

Finger Guns for Guys and Girls
HeroesCon 2017 was two weeks ago in Charlotte, North Carolina. Booster Gold has traditionally been well represented by cosplayers there, and this year was no exception.
Shag of the Fire and Water Podcast Network spotted these two at Heroes Con this year and posted this pic to Twitter. Jay Tallsquall also played Booster at last year's con, but his Justice League International teammate Gypsy is a welcome addition to the party.
Elsewhere, Jeffrey Lyles of LylesMovieFiles.com, uploaded his photos from April's Awesome Con in Washington, D.C. where he spotted this female Booster Gold cosplayer.
It's so heartwarming to see Booster still getting the love at conventions despite the character's continued absence from the limelight. You cosplayers are definitely Boosterrific.

Happy 30th Anniversary, JLI
If you think about it, we owe the longevity of our hero to the success of 1987's Justice League reboot which launched 30 years ago yesterday.
Although Dan Jurgens created a unique and endearing character in Michael "Booster" Carter, it was the character's inclusion in J.M. DeMatteis and Keith Giffen's reboot of DC's flagship team (and specifically his relationship with Blue Beetle) that cemented Booster Gold's place in the DCU. Without the JLI, Booster Gold probably would have faded to the same sort of neverland as other lesser known DC characters like Geo-Force or Blue Devil.
In celebration of the anniversary, the Irredeemable Shag interviewed DeMatteis for a very special edition of the Justice League International: Bwah-Ha-Ha Podcast. The writer admitted that Booster Gold held a unique place in the series.
Shag: Favorite JLI members. Give me like two or three.
DeMatteis: Well, Beetle and Booster for sure. Because in so many ways, they're the heart and soul of the book. ... I love the banter, and I love that we continued to play with them.
We love it too!
You can find the whole podcast interview, which covers the JLI from their inception, through their name changes, and into the year 3000, at fireandwaterpodcast.com.
Something tells me we'll still be celebrating the JLI when it's 60th anniversary rolls around. In every medium, great entertainment endures.
