History Is Already 30 Years Old
DC's August solicitations are out (you can read them at AIPTComics.com). Booster's run in Batman: The Brave and the Bold apparently ends in issue 15, because Lois Lane is taking his place in issue 16.
But there is a some good news for Booster boosters. Dan Jurgens is back with another issue celebrating another 30th anniversary of an event story he created in the 1990s. This year, it's the Zero Hour 30th Anniversary Special #1.
Booster Gold didn't play a very big part of Zero Hour, but he was there, which is good enough reason for him to be on Alan Quah's variant cover.
Sure, Booster wore a different costume during the original Zero Hour, but Zero Hour was all about changing history. So maybe now... he didn't?
I guess we'll find out when the issue is released on August 28.

My Favorite Pages: Mister Miracle 8
When a whole quartet of evil androids of Professor Ivo attack Bailey, New Hampshire in Mister Miracle #8, who comes to the town's defense? That's right, it's Booster Gold!
And let me assure you that Booster's offensive goes great! Really, I mean it. Absolutely do not look at what happens on the next page.

Anything for a Buck
This week's Green Lantern #11 sees Superman supplant Elvis in a Nevada quickie wedding chapel. That's such a clever idea, I can't believe that Booster Gold didn't think of it first.
words by Jeremy Adams, art by Xermanico, Amancay Nahuelpan, Romulo Fajardo Jr, Dave Sharpe
Booster is a natural huckster who has leveraged his super powers into celebrity and that celebrity into profit since his very first appearance. Over his career, he has run such diverse business ventures as a super powered repossession agency, a bagel shop using time-travel to gather ingredients from the past, and a hi-tech teleporter package delivery service. (You can find a complete list of Booster's many, many business ventures here.)
All of those were great ideas that have kept a roof over Booster's head, but none of them have propelled him back into the Fortune 500. So what unique business idea will make Booster independently wealthy?
What endeavors can turn a celebrity pitchman into a billionaire? What hasn't Booster tried yet? Founding a company to sell age-defying cosmetics (Booster Cold Cream)? Creating a name brand alcohol (Booster Gold's Lager)? Starting in a reality television show in which he advises less famous people on how to grow their own businesses (Business Booster Gold)?
To quote Mark Cuban, "In business, to be a success, you only have to be right once." Keep at it, Booster. Time is on your side.

New Release: JLI Omnibus Vol 3
Arriving this week in a Local Comic Shop near you is the third (and final?) volume of the Justice League International Omnibus.
According to the solicitation, this issue (with a brand new wraparound cover by Kevin Maguire) reprints "stories from Justice League America #51-60, Secret Origins #33-35, Justice League America Annual #5, Green Lantern #18, Justice League Quarterly #2-5, JLA 80-Page Giant #1, Formerly Known as the Justice League #1-6, JLA: Classified #4-9, Justice League Europe #26-36, DC Retroactive: JLA - The '90s #1, Justice League Europe Annual #2, and Justice League International Special #2."
It's funny: when you're reading them as you go along, they didn't seem like so many comics, but in hindsight, that's a heck of a long list.
That's at least part of 46 different comics, which pretty much A) justifies the $150 price tag, and B) puts a cap on the Giffen/DeMatteis era (with the exception of Justice League 3000-3001, which is collected elsewhere).
And the best part is that it excludes the JLI's appearances under the pens of other writers, so if we want to, we can all just pretend that Identity Crisis and Countdown to Infinite Crisis never happened. I can live with that.

My Favorite Pages: Mister Miracle 7
Booster Gold appears on only one page of Justice League America #29, so let's fast forward to his much larger role in Mister Miracle #7!
The story of "Just Another Day!" focuses on an impromptu visit by Blue Beetle and Booster Gold to their teammate Mister Miracle's civilian life in Bailey, New Hampshire. Although Blue and Gold have only the best intentions, well, things never quite go the way they want.
After nearly destroying Mister Miracle's secret identity, our heroes are ambushed by the inventor of Amazo, Professor Ivo himself. Or, at least, something that looks like Ivo.
We'll see how this turns out in Mister Miracle #8 next time.
