You may remember that Brett Booth was solicited as the artist for the previous issues, and he denied it on Twitter. Well, Booth confirmed that these January solicitations are correct. (Still no official word from DC on who will be drawing #993 & #994, though.)

In addition to all those, take a look at the solicited cover to Nightwing: The New Order #6:

If you look closely, you'll see a familiar blue star under Nightwing Jr's right arm. Booster isn't in the first two issues in this six-issue out-of-continuity limited series, but might we see him in January's conclusion? The future is looking increasingly golden!

You can read all the original solicitation details on Newsarama.com.

UPDATE: I hear via Shan on Twitter that Booth says "Booster Shot" is going at least 6 issues. So expect more Booster Gold news in February!

Dan Jurgens Draws Super, Talks Gold

Earlier this week, DC released a new "Art Academy" video on YouTube. Each of these short films showcases the talents of one of their artists. The latest featured artist is Dan Jurgens, who drew (and inked!) Superman at Comic Con International back in July.

If you don't care to see Jurgens draw Superman — what kind of monster are you? — you can skip ahead to 7:44 to hear him talk about why he created Booster Gold.

Pay attention until the end. There's a trivia question at about 15:05 that I expect everyone reading this to be able to answer. (That's all it takes to get a Dan Jurgens' sketch? I've been working too hard!)

Just in Time for Christmas

Last year, DC Collectibles promised us a two-pack of Blue Beetle and Booster Gold action figures. That set was canceled because of lack of demand. I doubt this latest Blue and Gold two-pack will suffer a similar fate.

Introducing the Previews Exclusive Funko Pop! Blue Beetle and Booster Gold vinyl figure two-pack!

Previews Exclusive Funko Pop! Blue Beetle and Booster Gold two-pacek

From Previewsworld.com:

The DC Universe's most hilarious crime-fighting duo comes to three dimensions with these PREVIEWS Exclusive Funko Pop! two-packs!

Blue Beetle and Booster Gold stand about 3 1/4" tall and come in a collector friendly window box for display. Recreate the adventures of two of the Justice League International's greatest heroes with these PX Pop! figures!

Just last week, I was having a discussion with Randy, the owner of my Local Comic Shop about the incredible popularity of Funko Pop! figures. I admitted that I don't get the appeal of the "superdeformed" vinyl statuettes that were taking up an entire wall in his store. Randy suggested that I was just old. His argument didn't win me over, but the fact that this Booster Gold Funko Pop! figure has a collar might.

The two-packs will come in two different finishes, standard and metallic. Either version has a suggested retail price of $22.99 and a targeted arrival date of December 20, 2017.

Since these are Previews Exclusives, be sure to tell your Local Comic Shop that you want one (or two) well in advance. I already sent my email to Randy.

Gift of the Magi

One of the things I enjoy most about this blog is being contacted by other people who love Booster Gold and want to share their passion. Monday's cosplay pic was a good example of that. And today, I have another.

Jonny Michel got in touch recently to share his most recent commissions.

My girlfriend recently bought me a Booster Gold commission drawn by the artist Chris Giarrusso. He is famous for his work on G-Man and Mini Marvels. I'm a big fan of original art and his trading card sketches are super affordable between my girlfriend and I. She actually kept it a secret that she had bought one for me and surprised me with it!

That's a great story, Jonny. Your girlfriend sounds like a keeper!

Keep up the great submissions, people.

What We Learned at NYCC 2017

The closest thing to Booster Gold news coming out of New York Comic Con this past weekend was included in this report of the "Sunday Conversation" panel with Dan DiDio and Keith Giffen (among others) as reported by Joe Glass for BleedingCool.com:

A fan says he'd love to see Seven Soldiers of Victory book, another says Booster Gold, another with Secret Six. Someone says Ambush Bug (Giffen: "No.")

So Booster was a no-show at NYCC, but he's not so underrepresented at all conventions.

This is George Pooley (with his "best mate") at the MCM Manchester Comic Con in the UK back in July:

See? Blue and Gold were in the house!

Thanks to George for sharing. Keep up the good cosplaying, men.
