Three Things (Comic Con 2018 Wrap Up)

Booster Gold-related pickings were slim at this year's Comic Con. What did we learn? Not much.

1. Booster Gold will not be in CW's Legends of Tomorrow season 4.

Per CBR.com: When asked at Saturday's DC's Legends of Tomorrow panel whether Booster Gold might put in an appearance, show executive producer Phil Klemmer said it was "not in the works." Seeing as how Booster hasn't been in any of the first three seasons of Legends of Tomorrow, this hardly comes as a shock.

2. Nathan Fillion isn't planning on playing Booster Gold.

Per ScreenRant.com: When asked whether he was aware that some fans want him to portray Booster Gold on screen, the Castle actor said that he likes the character but he's not campaigning for the part. Given that there has been no evidence that anyone is currently actively working on a Booster Gold movie or television project (and he won't be in Legends of Tomorrow ), this shouldn't come as much of a surprise to anyone, either.

3. Booster Gold will be playing a central role in Heroes in Crisis.

Per: Newsarama.com: Yes, we've known about Heroes in Crisis for nearly 2 months. But DC had a very weird press conference on a boat — somebody really loved Eyes Wide Shut — to promote the mini-series where they released new colored Clay Mann art featuring our hero.

I'm still not sold on Heroes in Crisis, but I can't deny that it's looking pretty darn good.

No Tips About the Future

On Thursday, Cartoon Network announced the release of their latest mobile game, Teen Titans GO Figure!

According to their press release:

Teen Titans GO Figure! features nearly 100 exciting figures to battle and level up. Collect fan-favorites like Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, The Flash, Green Lantern, Black Lightning, Swamp Thing, Shazam and more, each customizable with new paints, abilities and accessories. You'll meet up with tons of iconic DC characters along the way, including Supergirl, Hawkgirl, Commissioner Gordon, Martian Manhunter, Space Cabbie, Rainbow Raider, Booster Gold, Condiment King and more.

Before you rush out to play, know that DC Comics also released a digital tie-in comic book. The comic's plot actually involves some time travel antics, so naturally Booster Gold has to drop by. His one-panel appearance revisits Rip Hunter's chalkboard from Booster Gold Volume 2.

You can purchase the Teen Titans GO Figure! game for $3.99 by way of CartoonNetwork.com, and you can read the Teen Titans Go! Figure comic for free at Comixology.com.

(Yes, the exclamation point is in a different place in those two products. Why? Go figure.)

Thanks to J for letting me know about the comic.

Crisis Entertainment

The latest issue of Entertainment Weekly magazine is out just in time for Comic Con and includes Chancellor Agard's interview with Tom King about many things, but especially his plans for Heroes in Crisis:

EW: Based on the cover, it looks like Booster Gold and Harley Quinn will play a big role in Heroes in Crisis. Why did you pick those two characters?

King: They're the two stars of the book along with the Trinity. I do this comic called Mister Miracle, which I really like. The way Mister Miracle started was me going to [co-publisher] Dan DiDio and asking him, "I want to do something amazing with a character, but you have to give me some room to do some stuff, and you pick the character." He picked Mister Miracle and that's how that started. It's unoriginal, but I wanted to repeat that success. So when I came up with this Heroes in Crisis idea, I went back to Dan and said, "Can we do this again? Give me two heroes, I'm going to put them through the ringer and at the end we're going redefine them to be central to the DCU, pillars of this universe." And the two he gave me were Booster Gold and Harley Quinn. I think they're perfect because they're almost two sides of the same coin. They're both, like, these manic dreamers who have made huge mistakes and come back from them. They're kind of these survivors.

I'm not sure I like the idea of Tom King "redefining" Booster Gold, but "pillar of this universe" sounds nice.

You can read the rest of the interview online at EW.com or in the magazine on newstands now. Heroes in Crisis will be in comic shops everywhere on September 26.
