50 Shades of Crises

The push has started for DC's 2022 summer event, Dark Crisis, with promotional articles appearing in all the usual places. (Writer Joshua Williamson is even talking his creation up on Youtube).

The good news about all this is that we can definitely say that Booster Gold will be participating, at least in issue one, as we can see from the cover:

I assume we'll find out more when Dark Crisis #1 arrives in your Local Comic Shop this May.

My Name Is Booster Gold and I'm Here to Say...

Sometimes I need a reminder that the world is full of creative people doing good things, and that's what Ithildyn gave us this weekend. Specifically, we got a link to this video:

Apparently, that's a DC Comics skin mod featuring Booster Gold and Blue Beetle created by CosmicBeetle for a rhythm game called "Friday Night Funkin'" by ninjamuffin99.

I've never been any good at rhythm games (I have two left thumbs), so I'm content to watch the video. If you're the sort who's into playing such things, there are resource links in the video description.

Thanks, Ithildyn.

UPDATE 2021-04-15: Mod creator CosmicBeetle dropped by the comments with a link to the official trailer (also viewable on YouTube), so I've removed the gameplay video I'd originally embedded above. Sorry about that, CB. You've done good work.

Entertainment for the Eyes and the Ears

Propjosh dropped me a line to let me know he is preparing to unleash the final season of his long-running Blue and Gold fan series. Here's what he had to say about what you'll see when you visit his YouTube channel:

Without giving away too much, this season will be very closely related to the Booster Gold comics. Five years passed since Ted Kord was killed and Booster is trying to cope while working alongside Rip Hunter. There will definitely be some episodes straight from the comics. There will also be an episode where they will be completely animated with possibly a guest star.

Here's a link to my trailer for the season.

I will have new episodes every Saturday starting Sept 5th until the end of the year.

September 5? That's tomorrow! Finally something to watch other than the constant stream of political advertisements on my television. Thanks, Josh!

And if you're looking for something else to entertain you this long Labor Day weekend, know that Blue and Gold -- A Superman and Booster Gold Podcast released a new episode earlier this week. You can find it via blueandgoldpodcast.blogspot.com.

Youtube videos and podcasts? Sometimes the Internet is pretty great.

Heroes and Hijinks

Booster booster Eskana dropped me this note last week:

I don't know if you've seen these yet, but the Comicstorian channel on YouTube has been posting videos that contain some major Booster Gold. The host, Benny, has been holding "Dungeons & Dragons"-style role-playing games for the DC universe, and in each one the two guests are playing as the characters of Booster Gold and Blue Beetle (Ted.) I've never played D&D, but the videos are pretty entertaining as the guests do a pretty good job of acting out their roles as Ted and Booster. The episodes seem to feature the two working with the new Blue Wally West to fix anomalies in time and the multiverse, so you see them acting out storylines such as DCeased.

I'm not a frequent consumer of YouTube videos, but I have played my share of D&D. More than my share, if the truth were known. (Full disclosure, an rpg campaign I ran in 2001 is the basis for a series of novels I wrote in 2016. *plug, plug*)

These guys at Comicstorian seem to know what they're doing, and, more importantly, they're obviously having a pretty good time role-playing as our favorite heroes. Given the current health crisis, a podcasting video might be as close as many of us will get to a real gaming session in the near future.

If you're interested in such things, you can find the video at YouTube.com.

Thanks for the link, Eskana.
