Just Give Us a Booster Gold Movie Already
It sure looks like Booster boosters aren't too bothered by last week's news that the in-development Booster Gold movie won't be part of the larger DC cinematic universe.
Last week's poll question: How do you feel about the Booster Gold movie not taking place in the Warner Bros DC Extended Universe? (76 votes)
I agree that it's more important that Booster Gold not be the next Green Lantern than whether the film will see a cameo appearance from Cyborg. Every movie should be the best story its creators can tell, not an excuse to sell action figures and Happy Meals.

Booster Gold Movie to Stand Alone
On Wednesday, Abraham Riesman reported the following for Vulture.com:
"As of right now we have no connective tissue to those worlds," [Greg] Berlanti said when asked if the movie would be part of the DC Extended Universe that already includes Man of Steel, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, and Suicide Squad .... "It'd be a separate thing."
Berlanti also indicated that the movie is an extension of the Booster Gold TV show abandoned by the SyFy network in 2012. He gives credit to Geoff Johns for rolling that canceled project into a theatrical movie. Johns recently told the Wall Street Journal that he is trying to make the cinematic DC Universe less "gritty and dark." (I think I owe Geoff Johns a drink.)
Back to the original topic: the Booster Gold movie is currently planned to be a stand-alone story with no connection to the larger Warner Brothers cinematic DC Universe. Whether you think that is good news or bad news probably depends on whether you're one of the people who helped Batman v Superman make $872 million.
Let's find out where Booster boosters stand.

365 Days
Have I ever run a poll with such even distribution of responses?
Last week's poll question: Why do you think we haven't seen Booster Gold in a comic in the past year? (51 votes)
With no announced upcoming Booster Gold appearances in the pipeline, I guess there's plenty of blame to go around.
I decided to reach out and ask Booster's creator, Dan Jurgens, what his opinion was on the reason for Booster's prolonged absence from the DCnU.
At this point, it probably has more to do with the fact that DC has recently retooled its line and is really focusing on the core JL members and books.
That having been said, I'd like to do something with him soon!
Thanks, Dan! Hope springs eternal!
Bobdogrjr said in last week's comments he thought we'd see Booster in Action Comics 1000. Maybe he's on to something.

Where Oh Where Has Booster Gold Gone
This time next week, barring an unexpected, unannounced appearance in some random comic on Wednesday, Booster Gold will have been missing from new comics for one full year. That's unprecedented in the history of the character.
What do you think accounts for this remarkable absence of a character who has, on average, appeared in at least one comic every other week for the past 30 years?

Rebirth of Hope
A month into Rebirth, most Booster Gold fans see it as a positive (even though there has been no hint of a Booster Gold appearance coming any time soon).
Last week's poll question: How satisfied are you with Rebirth so far? (58 votes)
I was feeling that way, too, until I read this week's Superman #1. No spoilers, but it's got a Geoff Johns' Superboy Prime vibe plus an "everything you think you know is a lie" moment that I really didn't care for. If this is the flagship title of the new Rebirth event, it feels like more of the same old DCnU to me.
I hate to judge a title (much less a whole universe) on one issue, so here's hoping my first impression was wrong.
(And whatever I think about the other Rebirth books, I've still got Dan Jurgens writing Action. Jurgens' Superman is still my Superman, no matter what else is happening in the wider DCnU.)
