Booster Gold Not Coming to Legends of Tomorrow

If you were paying attention this weekend, you've probably already heard the news reported by Laurence Almalvez of The Hollywood Reporter.

"I wish I could tease a Booster thing but, you might have to wait a good long while at least on our show," said [Legends of Tomorrow showrunner Phil] Klemmer. "Perhaps Booster is being groomed for bigger things."

Or perhaps he's not. Who knows?

The nerd-baiting click farms that populate the Interwebs want you to believe that this is clear evidence that a Booster Gold movie is in the works. Don't be fooled. This isn't clear evidence of anything other than news that Booster Gold fans don't have to watch Legends of Tomorrow.

Don't worry. If there's going to be a Booster Gold movie, DC will let us know.

Find the whole article, with more information about Legends of Tomorrow at hollywoodreporter.com. Thanks to Cdn for the tip in the Boosterrific Forum.

Limited Edition PEZ Movie Projectors

Maane Khatchatourian of Variety.com has reported that Envision Media Arts is planning on making an animated movie based on PEZ candies. There is no news on what the movie will be about, but if Danish LEGO can succeed in Hollywood, I don't see what's stopping Austrian PEZ.

I foresee kid-friendly adventures in a world populated with bizarre characters who eject items they need from their neck, much like the character Rico in another animated success, The Penguins of Madagascar.

If PEZ wants to emulate LEGO's success, they should also leverage the intellectual properties of their licensing partners. There have been hundreds of different heads made. Somebody's would pay good money to see Fred Flintstone interact with Bart Simpson on the big screen. And don't forget Batman. There's nothing he won't be in.

This news is bound to bring the copycats out of the woodwork. If I were an affluent glory-hound, I'd already be investing my money in a "parody" variant that could beat the brand-name movie to market. Don't be surprised to see a PESL movie coming to a Netflix queue near you.

Believe All of What You See

In the summer of 1984, Hollywood box offices were doing boffo business with Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom and Gremlins drawing wide audiences. Those wide audiences happened to include many, many children under the age of 13 whose parents worried these films were too violent for their precious darlings. The Motion Picture Association of America responded swiftly. Thus, on this day in 1984, the PG-13 rating was born.

Booster Gold and the Temple of Boring

Since 1984, the PG-13 rating has become a necessity for summer movies seeking to draw in the most affluent and impressionable movie-goers (read: teenagers). Consequently, it has also become the go-to rating for super hero movies. If Booster Gold: The Movie had ever gotten off the ground in the 1980s, it would certainly have been rated PG-13.

Obviously, the emergence of the PG-13 rating was no accident. Steven Spielberg claims he originally suggested it. But which is really more likely: that a major media mogul who made millions on PG movies would want to shake things up, or that a self-centered time-traveler out to make his own big-budget bio-pic would be willing to manipulate the MPAA to introduce himself to the biggest audience?

(Say, doesn't that sound like it would make a great movie?)

Pick Your Poison

There are no small roles. Just small heroes.

Last week's poll question: Would you want Booster Gold to have a small role in a DC movie even if it meant he couldn't have his own show? (56 votes)

Would you want Booster Gold to have a small role in a DC movie even if it meant he couldn't have his own show?

If you were one of the majority who thinks that Booster should hold out for starring roles, you can't be happy to see that our hero will be relegated to guest and cameo comic book appearances in the foreseeable future.

A Face Made for Radio

I like the New 52 Booster Gold less every time I see him, but that doesn't mean I'm ready to give up on the character just yet.

Last week's poll question: Do you intend to keep buying Booster Gold comics now that you know New 52 Booster isn't pre-Flashpoint Booster? (49 votes)

Do you intend to keep buying Booster Gold comics now that you know New 52 Booster isn't pre-Flashpoint Booster?

The big DC Comics news these days is all about either Arrow/Flash/Legends of Tomorrow on television or the Superman V Batman movie. It seems like these are two separate universes, and characters from one are excluded from the other. If that's the case, what part should Booster Gold play?
