Two Votes Is Better than None
The 15-part "Breakdowns" storyline that ran through late 1991 into 1992 of the Justice League titles spelled the end of the heyday of the Justice League International's very popular "Bwah-Ha-Ha" era.
The letter column of Justice League America #55 (Breakdowns Part 5) made the announcement that a new team lineup would coming in issue #61 and gave fans a ballot to vote for the heroes they most wanted to see on the team.

According to the letter column in Justice League Spectacular #1 (which I recently re-read while preparing for last week's "
To be fair, many of those votes were duplicate ballots that were not double counted, but it's not clear whether any of the votes received made any actual difference on which characters were chosen for the new team. After all, the poll was published only six months before issue #61 was to released and the production of a DC comic book generally takes about three months, meaning there was only a small window for voters to influence any decisions made by editors or writers.
The full results of the poll were not made public, but Justice League editor Kevin Dooley did reveal that the top vote-getter was J'ohn J'onzz, who pointedly was not on the new team. Dooley also explicitly named Peacemaker as the character with the fewest votes, and to no great surprise, Peacemaker wasn't on the team, either.
Of course, this being a Booster Gold blog, we'd be most interested to know how many votes Booster got. All we can know for sure was that it was more than three. Dooley listed all the characters, mostly write-ins, who got three or fewer votes, and Skeets got two votes! (Other two-vote getters were Angel and the Ape, Arisia, Beefeater, Brother Power the Geek, Catwoman, Deadman, Sue Dibny, Dove, Lady Flash, Maser, Mera, Nuklon, Peter Canon, Praxis, The Question, Red Star, Sandman, Snapper Carr, Valor, Wildcat, and the Wonder Twins. That some pretty good company, Skeets!)
However many votes Booster Gold got, the important takeaway is that he made the team. Maybe one day, Skeets will, too.

My Favorite Pages: Justice League Spectacular

Following the Panic in the Sky, the Justice League reforms (in its fourth incarnation, assuming you don't count the "Detroit" era as the last gasp of the original team) in Justice League Spectacular #1. Most of the core "International" era team is still involved, which means there's plenty of Booster Gold to be had.
Which is a bit of a problem for me, actually, at least when it comes to determining which is my favorite page in the issue.
On the one hand, I love the art and Booster's inner dialogue and interaction with Blue Beetle on page 6 (drawn by Dan Jurgens and Rich Burchett, greatly enhanced by Gene D'Angelo's selective use of colors).
On the other hand, I also really love Booster Gold in action saving his allies on page 21 (drawn by Ron Randall and Randy Elliott in a much brighter but flatter style more reminiscent of Saturday morning television cartoons).
Which one is my favorite? Fortunately, I don't actually have to decide. This is my blog, and I make the rules, so I'll choose both!

Spectacular, indeed.

My Favorite Pages: Justice League Quarterly 6

As a general rule for this series, I skip issues in which Booster Gold appears on only a page or two, but I'm going to make an exception for Justice League Quarterly #6 because, despite its awkward panel layout, I love this page of Blue Beetle and Booster Gold hanging out over a ten-pack of (light) beer:

Buds and suds! Who could ask for more on Valentine's Day?

My Favorite Pages: Justice League Europe 34

Sure, Justice League Europe #34 has a full page of heartwarming interactions between Blue Beetle and Booster Gold. (That's page 18 if you go looking.) But that's not my favorite page in the issue.
And, yeah, on page 2, Booster gets a cool pose in which he calls the Conglomerate into action. But that's not my favorite page, either.
And the interaction between Booster and Lobo on page 9 should at least get an honorable mention.
But I've got to say that my favorite page in the whole issue is page 5, all because of Booster's expression on panel 4:

Wait, why is Despero's purple butt hidden in flames, but Fire's green butt fully visible? Her whole gimmick is being covered in flames!
Extra credit to Martian Manhunter for really selling that scene. You can always count on J'onn!

My Favorite Pages: Justice League America 58

Every storyline in Justice League America #58 is a fight. Despero fights Lobo, Lobo fights Guy Gardner, Blue Beetle fights the Extremists, Despero fights Martian Manhunter.. and Booster Gold (and his force field) saves the day (twice)!
Booster Gold has two truly great pages in this. Page 14 is both fun and poignant, but Booster's star moment is page 18:

Whatta hero!
