In 1985, DC Comics decided that their continuity had become so complex and discouraging to new readers that they had a Crisis on Infinite Earths to scrap everything and start over. DC has spent the past few decades rolling that back, but I'm starting to think that they had a point. Case in point:

Our guy's really on a roll right now. One of the most recent episodes of Teen Titans Go! sees him on an assembly line being forced to lay eggs alongside his pal Ted Kord and other members of the DCU (S9 E8: "Teen Titans and the Easter Factory"). Yes, you heard that right.

I'm not a regular Cartoon Network Teen Titans Go! viewer, but watching the episode to grab that screenshot made it clear that the cartoon Teen Titans had some serious backstory with the Easter Bunny. So I looked it up on teen-titans-go.fandom.com.

The Easter Bunny was introduced in season 3 ("The Teen Titans Go! Easter Holiday Classic") as a captive of a rogue Santa Claus plotting to take over all the holidays. The Titans were repulsed by the Easter Bunny's half-man, half-rabbit appearance and especially the fact that a half-man/half-rabbit lays eggs. Despite their misgivings, the team still aided him again in season 4 ("Easter Creeps") to save Easter from the Tooth Fairy. In season 5 ("Booty Eggs"), the Titans decide the Easter Bunny is too creepy to tolerate any longer and work to replace him themselves. (When you think about it, this pretty much the same plan as hatched by Santa Claus and the Tooth Fairy in the earlier episodes, but Teen Titans Go! episodes are better when you don't think too much.) The Titans are forced to realize they aren't cut out to run Easter and cede oversight back to the Easter Bunny.

In season 7, the pattern repeats itself when the Titans have to help the Easter Bunny defend Easter from Marshmallow Ducky ("Feed Me"), and Beast Boy foils Santa Claus's latest attempt to take over all holidays from the Godfather-inspired Holiday Mob ("A Holiday Story").

In season 8 ("Easter Annihilation"), inspired by Aliens, the Easter Bunny finally becomes a fully fledged supervillain when he decides that every day should be Easter. His plan? "Since Easter is based on the lunar calendar, I'm going turn the moon into an Easter Egg so every day will be Easter!" (Like I said, don't think about it.)

Anyway, all that history informs the latest Easter Bunny episode in which the Easter Bunny's latest plan for world domination is to impersonate Willy Wonka's famous chocolate factory and capture all the heroes and villains of the DCU to lay eggs until there are enough for everyone in the world. (Don't. Think.)

I think I'll have a crisis myself if I have to watch any more Teen Titans Go! Easter episodes.

As Jade pointed out in the comments last week, Booster Gold can be seen in the recent 400th episode of Teen Titans Go!. (Did you hear it's the longest-running DC animated series ever? It beats out second place by... over 230 episodes. So maybe this is old news.)

Although it aired on November 30, I haven't yet seen the full episode myself. Fortunately, Cartoon Network has uploaded a "First Look!" teaser on YouTube:

If you didn't see the update to Monday's post, be aware that this week's Batman Superman World's Finest #20 does include a single pic of Booster Gold (plus Blue Beetle's corpse). So you might want to check that out.

Meanwhile, it would seem this week's other theme is Booster Gold hanging out with cartoon characters, because Booster booster Jake has written to inform us of yet another Booster Gold television appearance:

Booster makes a cameo appearance in the Teen Titans Go! "Warner Brothers 100th Anniversary Special." He appears at about 22:21.

Booster Boosters may also appreciate Ted getting patted down at the WB Studios entrance (around 4:06).

According to Wikipedia, the "Special" is a two-part season 8 episode, and oddly, despite only airing on Cartoon Network for the first time this past weekend, it seems that episode has been floating around the webs and (legal!) streaming services since late September.

I recently got an email from Travis Bickle, and although he was clearly "talkin' to me," I think it's best if I just pass along exactly what he said:

We certainly are in a heavy Booster dry spell right now, which is why I was pathetically exuberant upon finding the news I'm about to share. HBO just updated its streaming service to be called simply "Max" instead of "HBO Max" (really clever change), and with this came some slight adjustments to other aspects of the experience as well, including allowing HBO's userbase to more options for their avatars in-app. Now, a user's profile can be represented by none other than Booster Gold, utilizing his look from the JLU animated series. Previously the options were a lot more limited.

Just last week, Warner Bros. Discovery put out a press release announcing new avatars were coming to their retooled app. Booster was nowhere to be seen. I'm very glad to see that oversight has been corrected.

Thanks for the news, Travis, but don't stay up all night watching movies. Lack of sleep is bad for your mental health.

I was sitting at my computer on Friday minding my own business when I got this email from Jake:

I'm praying I didn't miss this on the site, or I'd be awful embarrassed, but Booster appears in the Justice League Action animated shorts "Lasso of Lies", "Selfie Help!", and "Special Delivery"... (these episodes of Justice League Action were shared only as internet webisodes).

No need to be embarrassed, Jake. You're right, those 2017 Justice League Action shorts have not appeared on the site before... because I didn't know they existed! (Or did I? I have a hunch I'm not the only person on this planet who thinks 2017 feels like several lifetimes ago.)

Anyway, now that I know I know better, follow any of these links to watch these 2-minute cartoons on YouTube.

For future reference, the Boosterrific! Other Media: Television page has also been updated with brief descriptions of each webisode.

And while I'm on the topic of the Boosterrific! Other Media page, I should mention that over the weekend, Booster booster Doug sent me a different email pointing out that it was missing the recent McFarlane Toys DC Multiverse Blue Beetle and Booster Gold 2-pack. Oops. I can't pretend that I didn't know about that. The oversight has now been corrected.
