Sign of the Apokolips
It's been a few weeks now, but do you recall the last page of Summer of Superman Special?
Here, let me refresh your memory:
Pay careful attention to that big glowing symbol on the wall over the head of our chained hero. That is omega, the final letter of the Greek alphabet. As the last letter in its alphabet, omega is often used symbolically to represent the last element in a set, as in "the ultimate," or "the end." Naturally, this has led omega to become associated with death, the end of life itself.
Omega's symbolic relationship with death is why it was adopted by the New God now widely known as Darkseid. Darkseid came to power by stealing the Omega Force and using the Omega Effect power it grants (via his Omega Beams) to take total control of Apokolips and aid his relentless quest to discover the Anti-Life Equation.
In the DCU, wherever an omega appears, Darkseid and death aren't too far behind, as teased in this panel from this weekend's Free Comic Book Day DC All In 2025 FCBD Special Edition #1:
Between the contemporary Absolute Universe and the Dark Legion of the future, it sure seems that Darkseid and Omega Energy are corrupting the entire Multiverse. And the symbols of their evil influence are everywhere!
Even, it seems, on the Sunday broadcast of the CBS Nightly News:
CBS Weekend News, Season 2025, Episode 118, CBS, May 4, 2025
Darkseid over present-day America? That would explain a few things.

New Release: Free Comic Book Day Dark Crisis 0
I've seen tomorrow's Free Comic Book Day Dark Crisis Special Edition #0 — well, technically, according to the indicia, it's the Dark Crisis #0 FCBD Special Edition 2022 (suggesting that there will be another one in 2023?) — and I can personally attest that Booster Gold is in it.
I had previously griped about Booster's cut-and-paste inclusion in this two-page spread, but I can now attest that our hero appears in a second, more significant panel (along with some guy whose name rhymes with "glue needle"). But showing *that* panel would be spoilers, so you'll just have to take my word for it. At least until you get to your Local Comic Shop and participate in the weekend's festivities.
And while you're in your Local Comic Shop, perhaps you'll consider picking up Earth-Prime #3, which includes an unexpected Legends of Tomorrow Booster Gold story that fleshes out what Booster was up to between the scenes of the series finale, "Knocked Up, Knocked Down."
I've seen the episode and I've read the comic, and I'm *still* not sure I understand what's going on. But at least the comic hints at the relationship between Booster and the Legends of Tomorrow version of Skeets. It's complicated, but also kind of sweet. Kind of.
Get either of these books and make Skeets happy!

CSNFCBD2022
Booster booster Eskana writes in to say:
Not sure if you saw it, but in your quest to account for every appearance of the Corporate Crusader, I found one out of the ordinary... My comic shop's "Comic Shop News" had a FCBD special with what seems to be original art on the cover, showing Blue and Gold (alongside the Hulk, Black Panther, and Invisible Woman) by Fred Hembeck. Just thought I'd let you know!
Most comic shops that carry Comic Shop News pamphlets give them away for free, especially on Free Comic Book Day, which is next Saturday, May 7.
But if your Local Comic Shop doesn't have any, you may be able to find copies for sale online at ebay.com, which is where I found this image:
Thanks, Eskana! Happy hunting, completionists!

Die, Booster Gold, Die!
In all the hullabaloo this week over Convergence Booster Gold #1, you may not have noticed that there was more new Booster Gold on the shelves of your Local Comic Shop this week.
No, I'm not talking about Booster's appearance in Convergence Blue Beetle, though you should buy that too. I'm talking about the addition of Booster Gold to the WizKids Dice Masters game!
This week saw the release of the DC Comics Dice Masters: Justice League set, which allows you to roll custom dice based on the logos of dozens of your favorite DC characters, including Booster Gold. Those are the six sides of Booster's cube pictured on the card above.
There are three versions of Booster in the set (common, uncommon, and rare), randomly included in the "booster" packs. (Sorry, but Booster isn't included in the starter set.)
So when you go to your LCS tomorrow for Free Comic Book Day, consider dropping a few bucks on a Dice Masters' booster. In addition to supporting your LCS — who I remind you do have to buy the comics they are giving you for free — you might just get lucky and take home a Booster Gold gaming cube of your very own.

Futures End Starts Tomorrow
Booster Gold makes a cameo appearance in tomorrow's Futures End #0. If you're reluctant to spend money for a meager cameo appearance, here's the good news: it's free.
I've rarely partaken in Free Comic Book Day offerings because retailers are charged for the books, and I feel that the free comics should be used to attract new customers, not line the longboxes of people like me who visit their LCS regularly. LeVar Burton sums up the case for giving free comics to the new kids particularly well:
So I'm sorry to say that this year I'll be disappointing LeVar Burton and stealing a teaching opportunity from a child when I take advantage of the marketing promotion to get my hands on Booster Gold merchandise. I think Booster would want it that way.
(Besides, children shouldn't be exposed to the grim 'n' gritty New 52 anyway. Make 'em wait 'til they're old enough to know better.)
