New Release: Justice League 3001 TPB Vol 1
Great news! Both Booster Gold and Blue Beetle play a small role in Justice League 3001 TP Vol 1 Deja Vu All Over Again, available at your Local Comic Shop today.
Blue and Gold have a small role in Justice League 3000 #14. They also play a very small role in Justice League 3001 #3. Both of those stories are included in this trade.
Ok, so maybe Booster and Beetle appearances in these issues are very, very tiny — fine, let's call them cameo appearances — but surely you agree that some Blue and Gold is better than none.

World's Finest Blue and Gold
Big-time Booster backer The Blot has pointed out that I somehow neglected to show off the new Booster Gold figure available this month. Oops. He's right. Somehow, I completely forgot that there was a new Heroclix figure in stores as of February 10.
WizKids Games latest set of DC Comics Heroclix, "World's Finest," focuses on some classic (read: pre-New 52) characters. Included in the set were new figures for Booster Gold and Blue Beetle! As you can see at this preview on Heroclix.com (which I had bookmarked and promptly forgot about in January, d'oh!), the pair are designed to work together as a team. World's Finest, indeed.
You can see the figure being unboxed in this official WizKids Games video.
Sorry, Blot and everyone else. I'll try to do better next time!

Dan Jurgens Hates Cowards
A few days ago, Booster Gold creator Dan Jurgens made a pretty strong statement on Twitter.
The inspiration for Jurgens' comment was Booster booster Keith Callbeck's post of Ross Pearsall's Super-Team Family mash-up cover of Booster Gold and Blue Beetle running from the Hulk. Pearsall's inspiration was the opening splash page of Booster Gold, Volume 2, #34, drawn by Chris Batista in 2010. Specifically, it is this panel by Batista that Jurgens takes issue with:
It's easy to understand Jurgens' dissatisfaction with Batista's choice of poses and expressions. That panel has gained some traction on the Internet in recent years. You may have seen it copied by Blue and Gold cosplayers. Howard Porter's 2015 cover for Justice League 3000 #12 saw a similar scene of the panicked pair.
That wasn't always their reaction to trouble. In their Justice League International heyday, Beetle and Booster were chased by mobs of angry citizens, vampires, middle-eastern dictators, runaway islands, demons, and countless super villains. Yet Kevin Maguire, the artist most associated with the Blue and Gold pairing, never showed Blue and Gold turning tail in fear.
So what's the right way to depict Blue Beetle and Booster Gold running for their lives? Here's Dan Jurgens' take on the scenario in Booster Gold, Volume 2, #7 (2008):
Ok, so maybe Beetle is still scared. But look at Booster. What a hero!

7 Clevver Things
Clevver.com has released their list of suggested "needs" for a Blue Beetle/Booster Gold movie.
I applaud Joslyn Davis' enthusiasm, but I have to say that her experience with the characters doesn't exactly match what I've been reading. Among other things, Skeets isn't spelled with a "z," and I'd never call Gotham University's fallen star quarterback Michael "Booster" Carter a "nobody in the future."
But I don't mean to nitpick. I'll be happy enough if Warner Brothers ever manages to actually make a Blue Beetle and Booster Gold movie.
You can find this video in its native habitat at Clevver.com.

Storing Them the Right Way
While you're waiting for new Booster Gold comics, perhaps you'd like a better way to display the ones you have. The artists at ComicBindingPro might be able to create what you're looking for.
Those are hardback bindings they have created out of Booster Gold (and Blue Beetle) trades and floppies. That's something you'll never be able to do with digital comics. If you'd like to see more of their work or get a quote for your own custom bindings, visit comicbindingpro.com.
