Equal Pay for Equal Play
Given that Goldstar was created to be Booster Gold's sidekick as a merchandising opportunity, it seems a shame that DC hasn't made any Goldstar action figures. TitanTrap Customs is picking up DC's slack:
It's too late for you to bid on this eBay custom Trixie Collins Goldstar figure, but that's my fault. I didn't find it until the auction had ended. But you can see it and more customs on TitanTrap's Facebook page.

This Day in History: Worst Booster Gold Comic
Seventeen years ago today, DC released what remains my least favorite comic to include an appearance by Booster Gold. That comic was Total Justice #1.
Why is this my least favorite book? It was inked by Dick Giordiano and lettered by Gaspar Saldino, two longtime DC legends. Too bad inking and letters can't make up for the abysmal script by Christopher Priest and eye-gouging pencils by Ramon Bernado. No doubt the artists are fully aware that they are working on a glorified toy advertisement — the issue cover proudly procliams "based on the Kenner acton figures" — and they can't be bothered to make themselves care about it.
See what I mean? Those 4 wordy panels include Booster's only dialogue in the series, and are pretty indicative of the rest of the issue. Why is so much dialogue necessary? This miniseries is supposed to promote action figures, not talking dolls!
(While we're on those panels, who is Gypsy even talking to? Captain Atom? "Jar head" is slang for a marine, not an Air Force Captain! Is she saying that Booster's head looks like a jar? If so, shouldn't the artist draw Booster's head to actually look like a jar? Grrr. It's just all so bad!)
That's just a taste of what is bad here. Nothing about this series makes much sense. Heroes lose their powers. But only some of their powers. Sometimes. Marian Manhunter is excluded from action because his powers might cut out, but Aquaman keeps his powers because they are "native." The Beetle's Bug works just fine, but Booster Gold is kept on the sidelines because his technology won't work. Suffice it to say, this is not Christopher Priest's best work.
I've heard a lot of people over the years say that they liked the figures this series promoted. Part of the draw was the novelty. It might be hard to imagine, but the Total Justice toys were the first DC heroes action figures released since the Super Powers Collection of the 1980s. Too bad they all had "extreme" 1990s poses. Maybe I would have enjoyed the comic more if they had led to a Booster Gold figure. But no.
Even though there was some appreciation for the figures, I've never heard anyone say a kind word about the comics. There's a reason for that: they were terrible. Without a doubt, the worst Booster Gold comics to date.

Reduce, Reuse, Recycle
Today marks the observance of America Recycles Day, a day organized by Keep America Beautiful to promote national awareness of the benefits of waste recycling. Since Boosterrific.com is devoted to comic books, it is only natural that we celebrate with comic books, and in today's case, action figures!
DC's New 52 is nothing but an experiment in recycling ideas. I asked last week what you thought about recycling one of Booster's oldest powers, and a plurality of today's voters act like they've never even heard of it! Seriously, people, you're reading a site called Boosterrific and you haven't checked out our section on Booster Gold's powers?
Last week's poll question: Should Booster Gold use his long-ignored Mass Dispersal Force power in future adventures on TV or in the DCnU? (37 votes)
Today, through their website Matty Collector, Mattel releases Justice League Unlimited Booster Gold for the the last time. This release is part of the "Final Figures" series of JLU figures from Mattel, as the company tries to clean out their warehouse on this discontinued line of figures. The Booster in this set has been previously released in two different paints, so today's Booster Gold figure is really nothing new. That makes this Booster the perfect spokesman for America Recycles Day!
Booster aside, this "Final Figures" series 3-pack also includes exclusive versions of Blue Beetle and Fire, an ideal collectible for fans of the original Justice League International. If you're interested in acquiring limited edition set, act fast! Matty Collector figures don't last long, and this thirty dollar 3-pack is limited to quantities of 10. Hopefully, given Mattel's valiant effort at recycling figures, there will be enough sets to go to everybody who wants one.
Speaking of action figures, it seemed that Booster Gold got a new figure every year in recent years, but nothing since Flashpoint. Is that a good thing or a bad thing?

Last Chance to Buy
Toy Fair 2012 was last weekend, and as it turns out, there was some Booster Gold related news. Toy News International reports that the final Justice League Unlimited toys ever will be released at Mattel's MattyCollector.com later this year. Included in the final releases will be a 3-pack of Blue Beetle, Booster Gold, and Fire.

This is hardly the first (or even the second) Booster Gold JLU figure, but it seems that it will be the last. If you want your Blue and Gold (and Green Flame!) collection to be complete, keep an eye out for this assortment online this fall.

White Lantern Booster Gold
Remember that time that Booster Gold was declared legally dead? No? Justice League Task Force #13? That's okay, saber4735 does, and he has made a custom White Lantern Booster Gold to prove it.
If Blackest Night is included in the DCnU continuity but Ted Kord isn't, does that mean that Booster Gold has never encountered White or Black Lanterns? And if Booster was a White Lantern, doesn't that mean that he could resurrect Ted Kord? And since Skeets is a robot, how could he be a White Lantern?
Whatever the case, there are more pictures of the figure at figurerealm.com.
