New Release: New History of the DCU 1

If you have read the preview of today's New History of the DC Universe #1 (available at AIPTComics.com, among other places), you may have noticed on the very first panel of the very first page a very familiar... well, "face" is definitely the wrong word:

© DC Comics

There, on the left, it's Skeets!

(And many, many other treasures looted from the Justice League trophy room, including Superman's cape, Green Arrow's bow, Jack O'Lantern's lantern, Wild Dog's mask, Zatara's top hat, Blue Beetle's BB Gun, Kanjar Ro's Scepter, the Key's key, the Orb of Ra, Magog's staff, Star Man's Cosmic Rod, the original Red Tornado's helmet, the Guardian's shield, the Red Jar of Calythos, the Green Bell of Utholl, the Silver Wheel of Nyorlath, two Legion Flight Rings, Captain Cold's mask, the Book of Eternity, Elongated Man's Gingold, Batman's batarangs, a couple of other things I don't recognize, and I'm sure that's not all. I mean, the whole history of the DCU has to be in there somewhere.)

Thanks to all who made sure I saw this.

Buy this issue and make Skeets happy.

UPDATE: As you can see from the comments, Booster also makes an unexpected cameo appearance in Superman #27 and Flash #22. So buy those, too.

Coming Soon: Superman #30

Judging by how many people wrote to tell me about this, I assume most of you already know. But for posterity's sake, this was in the DC Solicitations for September 2025:

SUPERMAN #30
Written by JOSHUA WILLIAMSON
Art and cover by DAN MORA
$4.99 US | 32 pages | ON SALE 9/24/25

Superman has found the mysterious hero known as Booster Gold. Together, they must return to the present day to warn the Justice League, but Darkseid’s Legion stands in the way. The shocking events of this issue lead into next month’s massive next chapter in the all in saga!!

We already had reason to believe that Booster would be seen in Superman #28 in July, when this storyline begins. Should we also expect to see our hero in Superman #29? I guess we'll know in August.

It should be noted that DC has also solicited for The Human Target: The Deluxe Edition hardcover, which we already know includes Booster Gold, so we can keep an eye out for that this November.

You can read these and all the other solicitations at AIPTComics.com.

Thanks to all who made sure I didn't miss this.

Any Light in the Darkness

Sorry, but the blog post that I had intended to run today... doesn't work yet. And given that I have run out of time, that means I have nothing to show today. My bad.

At least there are plenty out there willing to pick up my slack in providing you a few minutes of diversion. For example, may I point you to "DC's Best Characters Aren't Their Most Popular Ones And I'm Tired of Pretending Otherwise" on ComicBook.com.

Sure, that title sounds a lot like "Anyone Who Likes The Beatles Is Dumb," but it does shine much needed spotlight on Booster Gold (and other deserving DCU characters, of which there are many). And, as I said, I've got nothing better today.

My Favorite Pages: Justice League America 64

My Favorite Pages

What can I say about Justice League America #64?

There's a big fight with Starbreaker, a legacy Justice League villain, and writer Dan Jurgens does his best to establish subplots with League newcomers Maxima and Bloodwynd. But artist Dan Jurgens' emphasis on dramatic poses and Keith Giffen-style extreme closeups makes the action feel somewhat claustrophobic, even when literally an entire planet is threatened.

Oh, well. They can't all be perfect.

At least Booster Gold comes out looking good.
