Brian (Hi-Fi) Miller on Coloring

Brian Miller of Hi-Fi Designs has a thing or two to say about the coloring of Booster Gold. I'm probably one of the few who miss the days of the 4-color Ben-Day dots in newsprint comic books, but that doesn't mean that I'm adverse to learning how modern coloring is done. As the most influential colorist in Booster Gold's recent career resurgence, Miller's opinion on coloring our hero's character carries some weight. You can read his blog about making Booster golden here.

Big Week for Booster Gold

Brace yourselves: Booster Gold is scheduled for his biggest week in over 2 decades as he will be appearing as a featured player in two series simultaneously. The last time that Booster was featured in two concurrent books was in 1988, as he was appearing in both Booster Gold and Justice League before Millennium ruined his personal life. Hopefully Booster won't suffer quite so greatly in the next DC mega-event.

However, it's Skeets who really needs to worry. Unless you count his involvement as breakdown artist for 52, Keith Giffen, co-writer for both of Booster's books, has never included Skeets in any of his many, many issues featuring Booster Gold. Might want to unplug those batteries, Skeets. It may be another trip to storage for you.

Armored Heroes on Life Support

Right now, the only think keeping you alive is the life-support.

As you stand in line this weekend, waiting to buy a ticket to see the latest Hollywood blockbuster, keep in mind the super hero who was forced to wear a golden metal suit of life-supporting armor to keep his heart beating after an unexpected enemy ambush! Of course we're talking about Iron Man Booster Gold! (Why would you think a site called Boosterrific would be talking about anyone other than Booster Gold?)

Booster was forced to don a Blue Beetle-designed, life-supporting armor after the cowardly Devastator cleaved his right arm clear off waaaay back in 1994's Justice League America #89. Booster was trapped in the armor for several years, during which time he was never the star of a highly grossing major motion picture. Arms dealers have all the luck.

Bars vs. Internet: Discuss

Once upon a time, people met in bars, got generally messed up, and passed the time taking sides in ridiculous and improbable arguments. This, in fact, is the entire foundation of the long-running television sitcom Cheers. Thankfully, the prevalence of the internet has brought those pointless conversations out of smoke-filled bars into the home and workplace. I present "Iron Man & War Machine vs. Blue Beetle & Booster Gold." Talk amongst yourselves.

Dan Jurgens at Digital Spy

Digital Spy has the latest interview with Dan Jurgens about Bruce Wayne's return and Vanishing Point. Not much is said about Booster Gold other than: "The dynamic in the group is governed somewhat by the fact that Superman and Green Lantern consider Booster a bit of an idiot." Booster hasn't ever spent a lot of time with Hal, but he and Superman have quite an interesting history. The entire article is available here. (I promise that today's link works for a change.)
