Comic Blogging Hack
Last night, I was "surfing the web" (just using that phrase probably tells you how old I am) for contemporary criticism of some movies I had recently watched. After reading a particularly un-insightful posting at a reasonably popular website, I noticed that the writer's byline defined them as a "content writer." I wish that had been at the top of the article instead of the bottom. It's pretty useful information.
A content writer is employed to do exactly what the title would suggest: provide content. They are unlikely to have a particular point of view or any special wisdom to share (in which case they'd have better writing jobs). They're usually artless pens-for-hire filling space, doing their best to capture eyeballs for whatever their corporate overlords are selling.
I was feeling resentful about being caught in that particular spiderweb, but then I thought: isn't that what I'm doing here at Boosterrific.com? Everything I write in this blog shamelessly germinates from the fundamental idea of drawing attention to Boosterrific.com. I hope that most of what I post is helpful to my fellow Booster boosters, but no one really needs any of this. I like to think I'm contributing to your quality of life, but aren't I really just adding to the trivial background noise that so often interferes with actual intellectual growth all for the sake of my own vanity?
If you really wanted to learn about Booster Gold, you could replace most of my blog content with some competent Googling. Or at least it could be Googled before Google replaced snippets of links with an unvetted AI summary of whatever the algorithm decided that you intended to Google instead. That's... not helpful. Especially when you're looking for something as niche as the minutia of Booster Gold super powers or costume quirks.
Hmm. Maybe, in the grand scheme of things, my blather is pointless. But maybe also not everything needs to have a point. Comic books, especially Booster Gold comic books, are fun; the more we can celebrate them, the better. So if you feel I wasted your time with this post, well, there will be another one on Wednesday.

Slow News Day
Not surprisingly, since DC canceled his title, Booster Gold news has been a little slow. These are some actual links returned in this week's Google News search for "Booster Gold":
- Dementia Care Booster Call [staffnurse.com]
Hospitals caring for patients with dementia were urged today to take 'urgent' action to improve the quality of their treatment.... "This new commitment has the power to make the gold standard we know exists in many hospitals the norm."
- Former Atlanta Braves Star Sid Bream Putting Honey Where His Mouth Is [thepostgame.com]
"It's an all-natural energy booster," he says.... To stay in shape, he walks four to five miles several times a week, and he fuels up with a spoonful of the liquid gold, usually spread on whole grain flatbread with bananas.
- ROWVA Band Boosters selling discount cards [galesburg.com]
The ROWVA Band Booster Club is sponsoring its 3rd annual Gold Value Discount Card sale, according to Derrick Appell, club vice president and fundraiser chairman.
- Bloomington school to sell American Indian statue [chron.com]
Bloomington High School plans to auction its life-size statue of an American Indian at a booster club event on Oct. 1, principal Tim Moore told The Pantagraph newspaper.... The statue carries a shield and wears shoes and other items in purple and gold, the school's colors.
Booster Gold is still out there. You just have to know where to look for him.

Bars vs. Internet: Discuss
Once upon a time, people met in bars, got generally messed up, and passed the time taking sides in ridiculous and improbable arguments. This, in fact, is the entire foundation of the long-running television sitcom Cheers. Thankfully, the prevalence of the internet has brought those pointless conversations out of smoke-filled bars into the home and workplace. I present "Iron Man & War Machine vs. Blue Beetle & Booster Gold." Talk amongst yourselves.
