Booster Gold Is Over Powered

Booster Gold may not be in Warner Brothers Interactive's Infinite Crisis MOBA video game, but it appears that his power suit is.

Booster Gold's Power Suit at Dawnbase.com

The details above come from Dawnbase.com, but the discussion seems to be in the game's official forum. Some think it's too powerful, others, not so much. At least one gamer named Lyri is standing up for our favorite golden gladiator:

Booster Gold is super strong.

Perfect on most heroes with a dive like AWW, Shazam, Aquaman etc, amazing synergy with heroes like Ivy Prime, WonderWoman and fills an amazing role as AD defence.

I honestly feel this item is just too good and should be mostly gotten on anybody.

"Mostly gotten on anybody"? I couldn't disagree more. Booster Gold should be gotten on everybody!

To decipher some of the above acronyms, "MOBA" stands for "Multiplayer Online Battle Arena," "AD" stands for "Attack Damage" and "AWW" stands for "Atomic Wonder Woman." If you don't know what an "Atomic Wonder Woman" is, Infinite Crisis might not be your kind of game.

Otherwise, Infinite Crisis is now in open beta development. Join the fight for free at InfiniteCrisis.com.

The 1990s Strike Back

I'm not sure whether you're all really excited about Chris Evans, or if you just want to see Booster Gold reach the big screen.

Last week's poll question: What would you think of actor Chris Evans playing Booster Gold in Booster Gold: The Movie? (47 votes)

What would you think of actor Chris Evans playing Booster Gold in Booster Gold: The Movie?

So not only are we getting a new Booster Gold comic in September, we're getting the opportunity to upgrade into a 3D cover. Obviously, we would have bought the issue even without the cover gimmick, so the question becomes whether or not we are excited to pay out some extra cash for a 1990s-style cover gimmick.

Something to Look Forward to

The rumor unveiled last week by BleedingCool.com has been proven true by DCcomics.com's advance September solicitations for 41 "New 52: Five Years Later" books, including:

BOOSTER GOLD: FUTURES END #1
On sale September 24 • 32 pg • FC • RATED T
3-D Motion Edition: $3.99 US
2-D Standard Edition: $2.99 US
Trapped out of time on a world that defies reason, Booster Gold struggles to escape the fate that has held him and so many forgotten heroes captive!

ComicBookResources.com has confirmed that this is not an ongoing but a one-shot, probably concerning details of Booster Gold's life five years into the DCnU's future. If we buy a bunch of them, maybe DC management will change their mind and make it an ongoing featuring the adventures of Booster Gold in the DCnU's present!

Retailer solicitations are usually posted two months in advance. Note that this is an advance solicitation for September. This advance notice is intended to

  1. give retailers a chance to place orders, and
  2. build hype.

A side effect of the early notices is that it doesn't give any indication of the creative team involved. This is probably because the creative teams aren't yet determined for some of the solicited titles. I'm sure we'll learn more before September.

The advanced solicitation is no doubt a response to last years' "Villains Month" ordering fiasco where printing and distribution problems coupled with an unexpected and inexplicable demand for some "Villain's Month" covers — Joker's Daughter? Really? — left a lot of fans disappointed last year. Let's hope that there are plenty of covers to go around so that everyone who wants to see Booster Gold in glorious 3D gets the opportunity.

If you want to celebrate this development, the party has already started in the Boosterrific Forum. (Thanks to MetalWoman for confirming the one-shot.)

Equal Pay for Equal Play

Given that Goldstar was created to be Booster Gold's sidekick as a merchandising opportunity, it seems a shame that DC hasn't made any Goldstar action figures. TitanTrap Customs is picking up DC's slack:

Goldstar by TitanTrap Customs

It's too late for you to bid on this eBay custom Trixie Collins Goldstar figure, but that's my fault. I didn't find it until the auction had ended. But you can see it and more customs on TitanTrap's Facebook page.

Get Booster Gold a Series, Quick!

Booster Gold Volume 2 inker Norm Rapmund was at WonderCon in Anaheim this past weekend where Kristy (@codemonkey37) caught him comforting an over-indulging Booster Gold:

Norm Rapmund with Booster Gold

Poor Booster looks like he's spent the past two years consoling himself about his DCnU exhile by eating lots and lots of pie. He may be skipping the gym, but at least he's keeping his costume in fantastic shape! (Old school is the only school!)

Photographer Kristy spent the convention in a Stephanie Brown Batgirl costume. You can find her pictures on her Twitter feed here. Thanks for sharing your pics with the world, Kristy.

UPDATE 2014-04-21: Kristy tells us via Twitter that she doesn't deserve credit for the photograph, just Booster's costume. That's the best part, anyway.
