Arriving tomorrow at your Local Comic Shop (but probably not mine) is, to borrow a phrase from DC Comics' official solicitation text, "THE STARTLING CONCLUSION TO KINGDOM OF ZOD!" I guess it must be pretty good to justify all those capital letters.

The preview of Superman: Kingdom of Zod Special #1 available at AIPTComics.com makes it clear that Booster Gold will make at least a cameo appearance in this one-shot final installment of the two-month storyline, so buy this issue and make Skeets happy.

I still haven't seen any of this week's books, but word on the street is that Booster Gold can be seen in (count 'em!) two different trade collections.

The first is Batman by Grant Morrison Book Three, which reprints the entire not-great Batman: The Return of Bruce Wayne mini-series that becomes the launch pad for the separate Time Masters: Vanishing Point mini-series reprinted earlier this year in Booster Gold: The Complete 2007 Series Book Three.

The second is The DC Universe By Keith Giffen, which, despite the title, does not reprint every Keith Giffen story taking place in the DC Universe. I don't think there's enough paper in the world for that. But among other selected stories, it does reprint the infamous "One Punch" fight Booster Gold witnessed in Justice League #5. And if you look closely, you'll see Booster Gold is on the cover!

My Local Comic Shop is currently having difficulty getting their weekly shipments from Lunar Distribution. This means I can't currently buy or read new DC Comics until days or weeks after their release.

Therefore, I was able to confirm only yesterday that Booster Gold makes no appearance in last week's Superman Unlimited #17. It'll probably be another week before I can get a look at today's Superman #42.

Superman saved literally everyone on planet Earth except Booster Gold in Superman Unlimited #17, so Booster has to be rescued in Superman #42, right? Right?

You'll probably know before I do.

The complete list of DC Comics December 2026 solicitations was released late last week, and it doesn't look like it's going to be a very merry Christmas for Booster Gold fans. Our hero was neither seen nor mentioned anywhere in the coming attractions list as posted at AIPTComics.com.

For what it's worth, Booster will be making a cameo appearance in several trade collections coming in January and February:

• JLA Book Four (reprinting JLA #27)
• Superman Vol. 7: Reign of the Superboys — Prime Time (reprinting "Kingdom of Zod," including Action Comics #1101)
• Superman by Phillip Kennedy Johnson Omnibus Vol. 2 (reprinting Superman: Kal-El Returns Special #1)
• Welcome to Hollywood, Green Lantern! (reprinting Green Lantern #37).

I'm disappointed, but after DC K.O. and "Kingdom of Zod," Booster Gold deserves a winter break. Kick back and enjoy the R&R, Booster.

I planned all week to prepare an installment of My Favorite Pages today, but after hours of working on a project that is already almost a year overdue (through no fault of mine), I just looked at the clock to see it's already 3:14 in the morning. To make matters worse, the next issue should be Justice League International Annual #5, but I forgot I don't have a copy of that on hand. Oops. Too late to fix that now.

I could give up, but instead I'll take a page from our favorite hero, put on a brave face, and press on despite the adversity (partially of my own making).

We skip ahead to Justice League Task Force #13. You know, the one were Booster Gold dies!

Dies for the first time, I mean. Depending on how you're counting, there's also 52 and Convergence and Death Metal and DC K.O., of course. But it all starts here!

Booster dying is not my favorite part of this issue. I much prefer the very first page of the issue where we get a look inside Booster's delusional (and, yes, dying) head. Sal Velluto's layouts are a big improvement over recent issues of Justice League America, but note especially Glenn Whitmore's color-negative secondary color scheme for the environment, a not-so-subtle indication that the situation is the opposite of what it appears to be for our usually primary-colored hero. It's a nice touch.

"The best-laid schemes of mice and men," eh, Booster?

Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to get back to work. (Man, a time machine really would come in handy right now.)
