I planned all week to prepare an installment of My Favorite Pages today, but after hours of working on a project that is already almost a year overdue (through no fault of mine), I just looked at the clock to see it's already 3:14 in the morning. To make matters worse, the next issue should be Justice League International Annual #5, but I forgot I don't have a copy of that on hand. Oops. Too late to fix that now.

I could give up, but instead I'll take a page from our favorite hero, put on a brave face, and press on despite the adversity (partially of my own making).

We skip ahead to Justice League Task Force #13. You know, the one were Booster Gold dies!

Dies for the first time, I mean. Depending on how you're counting, there's also 52 and Convergence and Death Metal and DC K.O., of course. But it all starts here!

Booster dying is not my favorite part of this issue. I much prefer the very first page of the issue where we get a look inside Booster's delusional (and, yes, dying) head. Sal Velluto's layouts are a big improvement over recent issues of Justice League America, but note especially Glenn Whitmore's color-negative secondary color scheme for the environment, a not-so-subtle indication that the situation is the opposite of what it appears to be for our usually primary-colored hero. It's a nice touch.

"The best-laid schemes of mice and men," eh, Booster?

Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to get back to work. (Man, a time machine really would come in handy right now.)
