Something to Look Forward to
The rumor unveiled last week by BleedingCool.com has been proven true by DCcomics.com's advance September solicitations for 41 "New 52: Five Years Later" books, including:
BOOSTER GOLD: FUTURES END #1
On sale September 24 • 32 pg • FC • RATED T
3-D Motion Edition: $3.99 US
2-D Standard Edition: $2.99 US
Trapped out of time on a world that defies reason, Booster Gold struggles to escape the fate that has held him and so many forgotten heroes captive!
ComicBookResources.com has confirmed that this is not an ongoing but a one-shot, probably concerning details of Booster Gold's life five years into the DCnU's future. If we buy a bunch of them, maybe DC management will change their mind and make it an ongoing featuring the adventures of Booster Gold in the DCnU's present!
Retailer solicitations are usually posted two months in advance. Note that this is an advance solicitation for September. This advance notice is intended to
- give retailers a chance to place orders, and
- build hype.
A side effect of the early notices is that it doesn't give any indication of the creative team involved. This is probably because the creative teams aren't yet determined for some of the solicited titles. I'm sure we'll learn more before September.
The advanced solicitation is no doubt a response to last years' "Villains Month" ordering fiasco where printing and distribution problems coupled with an unexpected and inexplicable demand for some "Villain's Month" covers — Joker's Daughter? Really? — left a lot of fans disappointed last year. Let's hope that there are plenty of covers to go around so that everyone who wants to see Booster Gold in glorious 3D gets the opportunity.
If you want to celebrate this development, the party has already started in the Boosterrific Forum. (Thanks to MetalWoman for confirming the one-shot.)

Equal Pay for Equal Play
Given that Goldstar was created to be Booster Gold's sidekick as a merchandising opportunity, it seems a shame that DC hasn't made any Goldstar action figures. TitanTrap Customs is picking up DC's slack:
It's too late for you to bid on this eBay custom Trixie Collins Goldstar figure, but that's my fault. I didn't find it until the auction had ended. But you can see it and more customs on TitanTrap's Facebook page.

Get Booster Gold a Series, Quick!
Booster Gold Volume 2 inker Norm Rapmund was at WonderCon in Anaheim this past weekend where Kristy (@codemonkey37) caught him comforting an over-indulging Booster Gold:
Poor Booster looks like he's spent the past two years consoling himself about his DCnU exhile by eating lots and lots of pie. He may be skipping the gym, but at least he's keeping his costume in fantastic shape! (Old school is the only school!)
Photographer Kristy spent the convention in a Stephanie Brown Batgirl costume. You can find her pictures on her Twitter feed here. Thanks for sharing your pics with the world, Kristy.
UPDATE 2014-04-21: Kristy tells us via Twitter that she doesn't deserve credit for the photograph, just Booster's costume. That's the best part, anyway.

Nothing Says Etsy Like a Booster Gold Hoodie
I know I showed you a Booster Gold hoodie on Monday, and typically I wouldn't show you another one so quickly, but Courtney dropped by Monday's comments to point out this limited time offer:
Hoodied, the etsy.com seller of this handmade hoodie is currently taking orders for this Booster Gold-inspired hoodie, but will stop on April 20. That's this Sunday.
So if you want your very own Booster Gold hoodie — and who doesn't — hurry over to www.etsy.com/shop/hoodied and place your order. Be forewarned: this Boosterrific beauty will set you back $130.00 plus shipping. It's a small price to pay for fashion this golden.

Creative Casting
Futures End was all we talked about yesterday, as we were excited about the possibility of Booster Gold getting his own comic. As much as I enjoy Booster Gold, Batman Beyond, and time travel stories, Futures End still strikes me as too derivative for its own good. But then again, the whole New 52 seems like an overlong, carelessly Elseworlds story to me, so I'm guessing I'm just not the target audience.
Last week's poll question: What is your reaction to this weeks spoilers for FUTURES END? (36 votes)
Now for something completely different. Captain America 2 has made a mountain of money for Marvel Studios. Why does the public seems to like Marvel movies more than DC movies? Could it be because of stars like Chris Evans? You know, that guy sure would make a good Booster Gold.
