The Puppy Bowl IX kicks off at 3PM, and I find that far more enjoyable than the 3+ hours of "we don't really have anything new to say but we're saying it anyway" pregame on CBS. (As big a fan as I am of Dan Marino, I really can take only so much pre-game "festivities.")

Hey, Grimmy, if DC is going to put it on the cover of all of their books in April, there isn't a lot of point in my hiding from it here where the cover to that book will eventually be on this site.

For some reason, after making my three picks, it isn't allowing me to vote.<br /><br />My number one choice, going on the full title of the note is Stormwatch. From what I've read of that book, it seems like a fitting place for the apparent Time Master that Booster's "always been" (according to a certain DC high up). Not to mention the cover and solicitation for Stormwatch, a team disappearing. Should that book be cancelled and replaced, a behind-the-scenes Booster book exploring the past of the Nu52 involving the Carter's seems fitting.<br /><br />2nd choice is JLA, given that Booster was supposed to appear there eventually anyways.<br /><br />3rd is AllStar. The Gold in the solicitation and the time period it is in garner this point. Only negatives, that costumed arm isn't the Nu52 Booster's gauntlets, nor can I remember Booster using a gun in his arsenal of technology.

I really liked the DCnU take on Firestorm, which was to replace nuclear bombs in the real world with Firestorm. Each nation with the bomb had its own Firestorm, and terrorist groups were using dirty Firestorm protocols. It was a very neat idea, even if the delivery was unfocused.<br />I tried several issue's of Jurgens run, but have found that it has all the problems of his JLI. Boring villains, drawn out stories, and generally bland story telling. While the previous writers did not live up to the series's potential, the current run seems to have no potential.<br /><br />Metal Woman

To each her own, I suppose. I much prefer the comparatively traditional stories that Jurgens' writes about the life of a couple of kids trying to be a hero compared to Simone/Van Sciver's confusing and meandering international politics parable. Sales for the series have been tanking hard since the first issue, so it would appear that you are in a minority in liking the initial New 52 FIRESTORM, MetalWoman. In all realms of human endeavor, a "neat idea" is only as good as its follow-through.

But don't take my defense of Jurgens as anything other than a blind devotion to an artist I admire. I admit that he has flaws, and Jurgens most certainly will not be able to save FIRESTORM. The book's sales clearly indicate impending cancellation, and recent history indicates that the only way that DC could save it would be by putting a Johns or Morrison type "big name" on it, something the company wouldn't bother doing these days unless they were going to cancel the title and relaunch from #1. It looks like Firestorm will somehow soon be folded into the Justice League, which should sound like a familiar scenario to Booster Gold fans.

This might refer to the DC April solicits and the 'WTF' initative (their name, not mine) in which DC explicitly stated that Booster Gold would reappear.
