Gold Exchange: Booster Gold #43

Last week Russ Burlingame notified us via the Boosterrific forum that his his latest "Gold Exchange" column with J.M. DeMatteis at Comic Related would be posted today. Unfortunately, I don't have the link to the column yet. I'll keep you posted.

This is DeMatteis' last "Gold Exchange" interview for the foreseeable future, and we have been promised that DeMatteis will be "spilling what his 'perfect' ending for the run" was, and how DC denied an attempt by DeMatteis to insert Dan Jurgens into Booster Gold's continuity. Sounds like DeMatteis is going out with a bang!

[UPDATE 04/20/11: It's 5:25 EDT Wednesday, and it seems that Comic Related still hasn't posted the article. To paraphrase the immortal Billy Dee Williams, they told me they'd post it. I trusted them to post it. It's not my fault!]

[UPDATE 04/21/11: Posted at last: http://comicrelated.com/news/11631/the-gold-exchange !]

Telephone Numbers Are Shorter in Smallville

I cannot believe how much buzz I keep encountering about Booster Gold's appearance on Smallville. There was some interest when Geoff Johns said it was coming last summer. Then there was some excitement when Eric Martsolf was cast in the role in January. Pictures of the costume two weeks ago blew the doors off the internet. And now there's Firday's trailer promo (which I posted here) that is literally everywhere.

Booster Gold on Smallville, screen capture by Kryptonsite.com

You expect that sort of thing on Newsarama.com or SuperHeroHype.com or even a fan site like Kryptonsite.com (from whence I found the nifty screencap above among many others), but when an obscure comic book character like Booster Gold is showing up on E! Online, something boosterrific must be happening!

One Week Until Smallville

Had you heard that the Chinese State Administration of Radio, Film and Television essentially banned all television shows involving time travel this month? It just so happens that the Smallville episode "Booster" is scheduled to air one week from today, at 8:00 PM EDT on the CW Network. Certainly this can't be a coincidence.

DC Universe Online

The Chinese government must be concerned about the influence that Capitalistic Booster Gold could have on their Communistic citizens. No, don't look, China! You might like what you see! (Heaven forbid that you should grab a bite at a Big Belly Burger and wash that down with a Soder Cola!) Fortunately for us Americans, the Federal Communication Commision doesn't care what we watch so long as there are no wardrobe malfunctions. Remember to keep those goggles on, Booster!

UPDATE: Kevin and Morgenstern have noticed someone familiar in the latest Smallville promo.

Thanks, guys. Less than 7 days and counting.

The 101st Greatest Artist of All-Time

Keith Giffen has been voted as the 101st Greatest Comic Book Artist of All-Time by readers of the Comics Should Be Good blog at Comic Book Resources. I just thought you should know.

Booster Gold 34, Keith Giffen, © DC Comics

Granted, these are the same readers who declared that Robin V, Damien Wayne, would beat Booster Gold in a street fight. The top 90 artists have yet to be revealed, but you can compare your favorites with the master list of the top 125 artists here, if you dare.

UPDATE: I've started a thread in the Boosterrific.com forum here to have my say on the matter.

New Releases: Booster Gold & Generation Lost

Big week this week as Booster Gold #43 and Justice League: Generation Lost #23 are scheduled to hit stands today. This is the penultimate issue of Generation Lost. After the big reveal in last week's Brightest Day #23, what could be in store for the JLI as they head into "the most awesome fight in comic book history"?

But that's not all! Also due out today is the latest Booster Gold collection, Past Imperfect. This issue collects the first six issues by the creative team of Giffen/DeMatteis/Batista/Perotta. That's pretty good timing, seeing that today's Booster Gold #43 is the last issue created by the Giffen/DeMatteis/Batista/Perotta creative team. (Booster Gold-creator Dan Jurgens makes his return next issue!)

Buy all of them and make Skeets happy.
