Convergence Booster Gold Solicitation Part 2

The solicitation for month two of the Convergence tie-in titles was released last week.

Variant cover designed by CHIP KIDD
On sale MAY 27 • $3.99 US

STARRING HEROES FROM CRISIS ON INFINITE EARTHS! Booster Golds...Time Masters...is it possible that the combined might of these heroes can put an end to the Convergence battles?

Note that the cover to this issue includes the pre-Crisis Superboy and the Legion of Super-Heroes. As all DC fans know, the original incarnation of Superboy was erased from the DC Universe during Crisis on Infinite Earths.

Why is that significant? Two reasons: one, according to DC editor Mark Waid in Secret Origins #35, Dan Jurgens' originally intended origin for Booster Gold had our hero in possession of the Legion Flight Ring of the pre-Crisis Superboy, the very same ring you can see on Superboy's right hand on this cover!

And two, this issue gives Booster the opportunity to interact with a character completely off-limits for his entire 30-year career. That sounds like exactly the sort of pairing that fans should want in a two-month event celebrating Crisis on Infinite Earths.

So Which of These Titles Will Booster Be in?

I'm sure by now you've all noticed that DC announced it's post-Convergence line-up of titles on Friday. You may also have noticed that none of those titles appear to include Booster Gold. That's just an oversight, right?

It's hard to imagine that DC's first post-Crisis on Infinite Earths character isn't going to be around somewhere, especially with Dan Jurgens set to write two new series (Batman Beyond and Bat-Mite — which is a series I will definitely be investigating). Will some version of Booster still be in Justice League 3001? Fingers crossed.

If you want to see everything DC will be publishing after Convergence, Newsarama.com has the list.

Will Booster Gold Play a Part in Convergence?

DC released solicitation summaries for the first month of Convergence titles last week.

CONVERGENCE: BOOSTER GOLD #1
Written by DAN JURGENS

Cover by DAN JURGENS and DANNY MIKI
Variant cover designed by CHIP KIDD
On sale APRIL 29 • $3.99 US

STARRING HEROES FROM CRISIS ON INFINITE EARTHS! Trapped with Rip Hunter and other time travelers, Booster Gold and his future self must work together to get out of prison and off the planet.

I feel compelled to point out that Booster Gold never actually appeared in Crisis on Infinite Earths. As all Booster Gold fans know, Our Hero was the first DC character to debut in the post-Crisis universe. Will that be important to this two issue mini-series? Who knows.

It's also worth noting that Rip Hunter and the Time Masters get a name drop in the solicitation for Convergence #3, but Booster is nowhere to be seen in the solicitation for Convergence: Justice League International. It's hard to imagine a JLI without Booster Gold, so I'm sure that has to be an oversight. Right?

Now I Think DC Is Just Messing with Us

First Booster Gold showed up on the cover of Futures End #25, despite appearing nowhere in the book. Then he was on the cover of last week's Smallville: Continuity #1 without participating in that issue. Now, DC has announced that March will be "Movie Cover" theme month, including this cover featured on Buzzfeed.com:

© DC Comics

Can you see the little Blue and Gold and Fire and Ice sitting on the Hall of Justice between Beetlejuice's Deadman's legs? That's the variant cover by Joe Quinones. The regular cover gives no hint that the classic JLI are around, but perhaps the solicitation does:

JUSTICE LEAGUE DARK #40
Written by J.M. DeMATTEIS
Art by ANDRES GUINALDO and WALDEN WONG
Cover by GUILLEM MARCH
MOVIE POSTER Variant cover by JOE QUINONES

They've been to the edge of time and back again, but now the arcane forces with which they've fought will make one last attempt at eradicating the Justice League Dark from existence. Major changes are in store as the team faces its final fate!

Will those "major changes" include an appearance by the JLI? Doubtful, but I guess we'll find out for sure on March 25. Thanks to Swingin' Around for the spot.

All the Answers You Need

Were you confused by the multiple universes seen in last month's Booster Gold: Futures End #1? What world did the A.R.G.U.S. Booster Gold come from? Does the pre-Flashpoint DCU still exist somewhere? DC might have some good news for you.

Yesterday, DC announced the coming of The Multiversity Guidebook #1.

THE MULTIVERSITY GUIDEBOOK #1
Written by GRANT MORRISON
Art by NICOLA SCOTT, GARY FRANK, KLAUS JANSON, CAMERON STEWART, DAN JURGENS, CHRIS SPROUSE, BEN OLIVER and others
On sale JANUARY 21 • 80 pg, FC, $7.99 US • RATED T

The guidebook to the greatest adventure in DC's history is here! With a detailed concordance featuring each of the 52 worlds in the Multiverse, a complete history of DC Comics' universe-shattering "Crisis" events, a map of all known existence, AND an action-packed dual adventure starring Kamandi of Earth-51 alongside the post-apocalyptic Atomic Knight Batman of Earth-17 and chibi Batman of Earth-42, this 80-page mountain of MULTIVERSITY madness cannot be missed!

The MULTIVERSITY GUIDEBOOK contains everything you ever wanted to know about DC's parallel worlds and their super-heroic inhabitants. Meet the Agents of W.O.N.D.E.R. The Light Brigade, the Super-Americans and the Love Syndicate! Meet the Accelerated Man, Aquaflash, BiOmac and more!

If you read the above solicitation closely, you couldn't miss that Dan Jurgens is credited on the book. That's no guarantee that we'll get Booster Gold, but given the events of Booster Gold: Futures End, it seems likely at least one Booster will be included in this 80-page giant.

You can find more information and the full slate of DC's January solicitations (including the news that Fire and Ice will be coming to Justice League 3000) at ComicBookResources.com.
