Charles Skaggs, writer of many things including a handful of DC comics, has speculated on his "DAMN Good Coffee... and HOT!" blog that there will soon be a third volume of Booster Gold comics drawn by Kevin Maguire.

Like all good conspiracy theorists, Skaggs draws this conclusion from a variety of sources, none of which alone quite indicates anything of the sort. It wouldn't be the first bit of wishful thinking from Booster Gold fans on the subject.

I'm inclined to be skeptical, but who would have ever heard of Booster Gold if he had let facts get in the way of a good story? This is the Internet Age; facts are no longer necessary for drawing conclusions!

Obviously Skaggs' is on to something here. After all, with a connection to DC Comics, he might be in a position to know more than he's letting on! To be safe, fans should start saving now for Booster Gold Volume 3, coming soon to a comic shop near you!

Here at Boosterrific, we are developing quite a relationship with the Kevin Maguire/Terry Austin "Class of 87" Justice League International poster.

You may recall that back in August I solicited help getting a close-up of Batman's shoulder. I am finally at liberty to tell you why: the original art was in need of some repair, and the new owner, Malvin, needed a photo reference. Now the work is back from the restorer, and it looks great.

In addition to this piece, Malvin has a very impressive catalog of art online at ComicArtFans.com that you may enjoy (including a much larger resolution image of these inks). We both offer thanks to everyone who helped, especially Shawn Baston.

While we're on the subject of things that I didn't know existed, let's add the Justice League International Postcards set released in 1988. I had seen the Kevin Maguire/Joe Rubenstein/Steve Oliff art on several occasions, but I was unaware of its source until I stumbled upon this 2006 blog post at roadkillbudda.blogspot.com.

The text on the back of this card reads "Born in the 25th century, Michael Jon Carter longed for a life of adventure in our own time. Using a stolen time machine and the advanced technology of his day, he traveled back to '80s Metropolis where, through self-promotion and shrewd investments, he became the celebrity super-hero Booster Gold!" That's about as succinct a description of Booster Gold as you're likely to find, fitting for the back of a postcard.

This 15-card set of cards cost $5.00 in 1988. Given the rate of inflation, a new set of cards would cost you $10.00 today. Likewise, postcard postage has doubled from 14¢ in 1988 to 29¢ today. That's still less than $1.00 per card, but not by very much.
