Blame Canada
According to Rich Johnson of Bleeding Cool, it was announced at the August 26th Fan Expo Canada "Flashpoint Friday" panel that Booster Gold will be the Canadian member of the upcoming Justice League International.
Let that sink in. A Canadian. Because the first things that come to mind when you think Canada is "selfishness" and "self-promotion."

Does this change anything significant about Booster's character? No, not really. It's just a little weird to think that Booster Gold, the Capitalist Crusader, will be Canadian in the DCnU, eh.
It's hard to believe that this wasn't just panelists Brian Azzarello, Eddie Berganza, Andy Kubert, Francis Manapul, and James Robinson playing up to the local crowd. We'll find out the truth soon enough: Justice League International #1 is less than 2 weeks away.
UPDATE 08/29/11: Jobu popped into the Boosterrific Forum to note the following.
One of the panelists (I was far back) replied "actually, I think you guys will be thrilled to know that in the DCnU one of heroes will now be Canadian". They batted around "can we tell them?" for a bit and then said it was Booster Gold. The crowd cheered and clapped, but I just assumed it was joke and nothing more.
The next day at the New 52 panel, I was rocking my Booster Gold fan club T-shirt when a question came up about the JLI and Dan DiDio once again said Booster would be Canadian. He said it with a totally straight face and wasn't playing for applause so maybe there's some truth to this rumour?
So they're serious then? Of all the characters to make Canadian... Booster Gold, a hero disgraced playing college football, named by Ronald Reagan, who wears a star on his chest? Thanks for the update, Jobu.

Found Poster
Big thanks to Jesster, who provided photos of not one, but two different Booster Gold posters from the 80s and 90s!

It was a solicitation for the 1992 Dan Jurgens poster above that triggered my post on Friday. Little did I know that DC had only a few years earlier released a poster promoting a different version of the Justice League by Kevin Maguire. Fortunately, Jesster had that "Class of 1987" poster, too.

Boosterrific.com, now even more complete thanks to Jesster.

Upcoming Releases: JLI Volume 3 #1
Did you ever play that game where you look at two images and try to find what has been changed between them? DC has.

The internet's inability to identify the girl on the bottom left of the originally released cover for Justice League International, Volume 3, #1 (seen on the left) seems to have inspired a change in the "final cover" (seen on the right). We know from other sources that she's not Wonder Woman, Donna Troy, or Black Canary. Given the fact that she's now invisible, maybe she's Gypsy. The solicitation text provides no hints:
With the growing presence of super beings around the world, the United Nations resolves to create a new group called Justice League International. Batman, Booster Gold, Green Lantern Guy Gardner, August General in Iron, Fire, Ice, Vixen and Rocket Red are charged with promoting unity and trust — but can they reach that goal without killing each other first?
I guess we'll find out when the issue is released on September 7, 2011.

New Releases: Justice League TPB Volume 6
It was the best of times, it was the worst of times. Of course I'm talking about the adventures on KooeyKooeyKooey, the casino/resort founded and lost by Booster Gold and Blue Beetle in Justice League America #33-#35.

That adventure and more are reprinted in Justice League International Volume 6, released today. Whether you are reliving the good old days or discovering the apex/nadir of the wackiness of the JLI for the first time, make your reservations today!

JLI at the Beach by Vokes and Rankin
When I was running the rare art pieces last week, I excluded the following piece because it was not strictly commissioned by DC comics. That doesn't mean it isn't worth mentioning.

The above image of Blue Beetle, Booster Gold, Guy Gardner, and Fire at the beach by Neil Vokes and Rich Rankin was published in the fanzine Amazing Heroes Swimsuit Special #1 (June 1990). This image may seem a little odd now, but remember that swimsuit specials were all the rage in the 90s. The highlight of the image is probably Beetle's swim trunks, though your mileage may vary.
