New York Comic Con (NYCC) was this past weekend, and I was forewarned by Booster booster Pigeon that I should keep my eyes out for news from Mattel. That's how I discovered that Mattel announced three distinct lines of DC Comics figures coming in 2027.

According to Toy News International, the Premier Series will be figures with basic articulation, the Legacy Collection will be slightly more articulated with more accessories, and the Ultimate Edition will have all the bells and whistles. All will all be 6.5" scale, which is slightly smaller than the 7" McFarlane DC Multiverse line of the past six years (but larger than the 6" Mattel figures that came before).

Now, given that this is a Booster Gold website, what do you think I'm going to tell you next?

Pigeon points us to DC Collectors.com, which reports that early leaks of upcoming figures on online retailer listings included one "DC Legacy Collection Justice League Unlimited Booster Gold (Item No.: 107-JRH81)."

Before you get too excited by this rumor, know that I Googled this supposedly leaked information to see what else I could find out about it, and Google Gemini flatly confirmed it. Given how often Google Gemini is correct, that can only mean this is pure hallucination and no such toy is planned or will ever exist.

Thanks for the warning, Pigeon. The figures that Mattel showed off at NYCC look great, and it can only be a matter of time before they make a Booster Gold figure (preferably with the high collar). I'm sure we'll all be keeping eyes out for it.

I haven't seen a single piece of reporting from the Comic-Con International panels that even tangentially relates to Booster Gold, but that doesn't mean there was no Booster Gold news this weekend.

DC released their October 2026 solicitations Saturday, and Booster Gold can be seen as just one of about two dozen heroes on the back cover of the announced Superman: The Wedding Album 30th Anniversary Special.

It's strange to see Booster on the cover of this thing. Unlike the "Death of Superman," Booster Gold played no role in the original Wedding Album one-shot. Not that there was anything wrong with that. Lois Lane didn't marry Superman; she married Clark Kent. It would have been kind of hard to explain the Justice League sitting in the pews. Maybe some time travel is involved this time around?

It's strange to see this thing at all. The Wedding Album one-shot only came to exist because DC Comics was trying to build some synergy between Superman comics and the Lois & Clark television show. (Comic book historian Brian Cronan chronicled that whole story in his 2019 CBR.com article "How the Lois & Clark TV Series Sped Up Lois and Clark's Comic Wedding.") Sure, the book made a splash at the time of its release (becoming the top selling comic of November 1996 according to Comichron.com), but although the marriage has lasting effects, the story itself hasn't been particularly influential.

I guess everyone just loves anniversaries.

Will Booster play a bigger role than just the cover? We'll find out when the book releases on October 28.
