Limited Time Offer
If you thought Monday's post was old school, take a look at this blast from the past!
That's a promotional header card distributed to comics retailers in 1992. Both halves, left and right, were the covers to Justice League Spectacular (by Dan Jurgens and Ron Randall).
DC heavily promoted the comic at the time, putting the image on posters and buttons in addition to house ads and header cards. And you can Buy It Now for $25 at eBay.com!

Buyer Beware
Do you like leather jackets? Do you want to dress like actor Eric Martsolf from Smallville? Do you have $178? If you answered yes to all three of those questions, Sky-Seller.com might be the site for you!
Or maybe you'd prefer to save $3 and order from LeatherJackets.com:
Hmm. That image looks awfully familiar. Where have I seen that before? Oh, yes, I remember now:
That's thomdave wearing the costume he had made for Comic-Con 2011. At the time, he credited the costume to Abby Polakow (of Cape & Cowl Creations).
Sky-Seller.com is registered to a private company in Panama. LeatherJackets.com is registered to an apparel company in San Francisco (B.L.K. International) which claims to have been in business for 20 years. If you look closely, you'll see that the LeatherJackets image is a poorly retouched version of the Sky-Seller image (you can clearly see the use of the clone tool to cover where the "Sky-Seller.com" watermark has been removed).
So Sky-Seller "borrowed" and retouched the image from thomdave's original forum post, and LeatherJackets "borrowed" that image and retouched it. Neither of them appear to have anything to do with Polakow, who has her own craft store on etsy.com.
The moral of today's post, boys and girls, is before you trust someone with your $175, you might want to do a bit of homework. Anyone who takes credit for someone else's work might not be the most trustworthy vendor.

This Day in History: Booster Pig
Remember that time Booster Gold was transformed into a pig?
Yeah. That was 15 years ago today.
(Panels like this are why I read comic books.)

Kamandi Is So Hot Right Now
I don't mean to be a wet blanket, but Wednesday's on-panel appearance of Booster Gold appears to be an aberration. Monday saw the release of DC Comics' January solicitations, and as we've been conditioned to expect over the past year, Booster Gold was nowhere to be seen. He wasn't even hinted at.
DC has been on top of the comics world lately. Sales estimates at ComicChron.com indicate that Rebirth has been a huge success, with the company publishing 39 of the 50 top selling comics in September. Obviously, the company is doing great without Booster Gold.
The question for Booster boosters is whether that is good news — there can be no Booster Gold comics if there is no DC — or bad news — if DC sells more comics without Booster Gold, why bother including him in future publications?
One of the big stories for January at DC is the return of Kamandi, a largely forgotten character created in 1972. Kamandi is getting the big push as DC tries to cash in on the legacy of Jack "King" Kirby's 100th birthday (with a remake of 1985's DC Challenge).
Is that what it's going to take to get Booster back in a series? Dan Jurgens won't turn 100 until 2059. That's a long wait.

Hey, Look! It's Booster Gold!
I woke up to this email from Booster booster Logan:
The Booster drought! She is finally over!!!
Green Lanterns #9, hitting shelves today!
Booster officially appears in a flashback with the JLI in
I was so excited when I saw this that I spilled my cereal!
Pencils by Robson Rocha, Ink by Jay Leisten, Color by Blond
I couldn't have said it better myself, Logan.
So maybe it's only a one panel flashback, but it's still nice to know that DC hasn't forgotten our hero exists.
