Booster Gold Is No One's Pawn!

If you're paying attention, you may soon start seeing Eaglemoss' "white pawn" Booster Gold (and accompanying magazine) appearing in your Local Comic Shop.

Booster is figure 61 in the set. (Pieces 1 through 32 were a complete Batman-themed chess set.) He's been available for a few months internationally, but he'll be arriving in American stores any day now, if not already. (You can already find it for under $20 on eBay.com.)

This New 52 Booster should make a nice companion to the classic Booster Eaglemoss released a few years ago. How long do we have to wait for an Eaglemoss Skeets?

Happy Birthday, Dan Jurgens!

He brought you Agent Liberty, Risk, Waverider, Doomsday, and Cyborg Superman. But most importantly, he's the creator of Skeets and someone called Booster Gold. Who else could it be but Dan Jurgens?

Jurgens celebrates his 55th birthday today, and he'll no doubt be celebrating by slaving away at the drawing board for future issues of Futures End or maybe pages of September's Booster Gold one-shot. But you can celebrate by bidding on some of Jurgens' old work, specifically this poster from his run on Justice League:

Justice League Spectacular poster

That rare poster from 1992, drawn by Dan Jurgens and inked by Rick Burnett, is currently listed for sale on eBay.com. The auction ends Tuesday, so act fast. You don't want to have to wait another few decades before you get another shot at it.

Thanks for all the hard work over the years, Dan! Here's to 55 more.

Fred Hembeck Destroys Booster Gold

I'm sorry to say that I discovered this Booster Gold sketch by the inimitable Fred Hembeck on eBay.com too late to give you the opportunity to bid on it. At least we can still marvel in its glory.

The last time I spotted Booster Gold in a Hembeck sketch on eBay, Booster was just one of many assembled members of the Justice League. This time Booster gets the solo spotlight he deserves!

Only 20 Shopping Days Left until Christmas

The clock is ticking. Do you have a gift for that special someone yet? How about an artifact from a time gone by, a nostalgic reminder of when comic book collecting was mainstream and everyone believed that their comic collection would pay their way through college. You know, 1991.

Earth's Mightiest Heroes: Booster Gold on eBay

Even in 1991, Booster Gold was among Earth's Mightiest Heroes. Seller petspawn is selling this time capsule-in-a-trading card this week on eBay.com. As I type this, bidding is up to $0.99. That's cheaper than the cover price of comics even then!

Whether you're looking for a stocking stuffer or just something to stick between the spokes on your bicycle wheels, go for the Gold!

Learning to Fly

No Booster Gold costume is complete without a Legion of Super-Heroes Flight Ring. Typically, there are only two ways to get rings: you become a member member of the 31st-century Legion of Super Heroes, or you steal one from a museum. For a limited time, you can have your own without inventing time travel or turning to a life of crime!

That postcard campaign back in February/March 2010 must have worked, because last week DC released their latest ring promotion for buyers Legion: Secret Origin #1. Rush out and pick up a copy of the book, and that ring can be yours, baby!

(I apologize for not mentioning this last Wednesday. DC announced this promotion back in August and then buried it, probably because it's not tied-in to the New 52 that the company has been working so hard to promote. Without a reminder, I simply forgot about it. Fortunately for all of us who can't get one anymore at our Local Comic Shops anymore, there's always eBay.)
